Alrighty. We are in first Corinthians chapter five. Any fornicators here? Oh, no. Alright. We'll cover you today. Look at you guys. You're not laughing here. It's gonna be a rough one today. Please stand with me as we read first Corinthians chapter five. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles that one should have his father's wife. And you are puffed up and have not rather mourned that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you. For verily I say, for verily as absent in the body but present in spirit have judged already as though I were present concerning him that has done this deed. In the name of our lord Jesus Christ, when you're gathered together my spirit with the power of the of our Lord Jesus Christ to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh that the spirit spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorifying is not good, know ye not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Purge out therefore the old leaven that ye may be a new lump as ye are unleavened for even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore, let us keep the feast not with old leaven neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators, yet not altogether with fornicators of this world, or with the covetous or extortioners, or the idolaters, for then must he needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator or covetous or an idolater or or a railer or a drunkard or an extortioner with such a one know not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? Do not do not you judge them that are within? But them that are without, God judges. Therefore, put away from among yourselves that wicked person. Father, thank you for your holy word. And Lord, as we study, Lord, we pray praise you, we worship you, we know Lord that we're no longer, we're now therefore not in there's no condemnation of those that are in Christ Jesus. So Lord, we don't want to condemn, but Lord, we pray that your Holy Spirit would convict, that your Holy Spirit be a mirror and show us ourselves in relationship to who you are. We pray that we'd not lower the standards of of your word and and the lives that we're to live as Christians. Lord, we know that we cannot achieve, a perfection according to the letter of the law, but as Lord, as we yield to your holy spirit, Lord, that you empower us to live the Christian life, a life of purity, a life of of blessing to others that we don't condone, we don't tolerate, we don't give in to corruption, Lord. So bless, we pray. Bless this time, Help us, we pray. In Jesus name, amen. We live in a age where immorality is paraded in our streets and in our communities, homes and churches. We're witnessing a breakdown of society because we cannot or will not stem the tide of the wickedness. The corruption that's per permeated us like leaven. And so we watch in the in the period of the church, this last twenty, thirty years where churches don't wanna mention the word sin. They don't want to call sinners out. There is no church discipline today by and large. Very very seldom do you see any kind of church discipline whatsoever. So even if a pastor tries to, in his teaching or with a leadership try to address those that are practicing sin, and we wanna emphasize the practicing. All of us sin. If we study in first John, in first John, if you say you have no sin, you're a liar and the truth isn't in you. The situation here was practicing practicing of sin where a a man was, having, sexual engagement with, his father's wife, so his stepmother. So you had incest going on and it was uncurbed, it was unchallenged, it was just tolerated, allowed to be so. And, anytime you and I, in the times in which we're living, if we confront sin or mention sin or identify what is sin, the very first verse that people shoot back ass at us is in Matthew seven, judge not lest ye be judged. And so it's like, oh, I'm I'm not supposed to judge behavior. I'm not supposed to, you know, evaluate right and wrong behavior. Oh, we're living in a time of relativism, we're living in a time of existential humanism, everybody's doing that which is right in their own eyes. We make up our rules, you know, what we wanna do, don't wanna do, and and then we we have to fight through bigotry, you know, that we're haters, we're bigots, we're homophobes, we're, all the other words. You need to be tolerant of of these things and tolerant of people. You need to be inclusive, include everybody in, you know, and all that. So the church of Corinth was falling into the trap of tolerance and political correctness. They were seriously compromising the truth and allowing evil to run rampant unchecked within the body. Paul seeks to correct the problem of open immorality through discipline. So again, in the church growth movement today, you cannot mention the word sin, you cannot mention the word repentance, you cannot address immorality, anything goes. All the pastors want is for you to write a check. That's all they want. And if they they're afraid of offending someone, they're afraid they want the gays and lesbians in the seats, they want everyone in the seats, and just like Donald Trump, his wife this isn't anything new. They just had a fundraiser at Mira Lago in Florida with LBGT, you know, group. What's that say to you, evangelicals? They're gonna fundraise with the gays and lesbians. Also in the state of Arizona, they're saying no abortion, but yet Carrie Lake and Donald Trump are saying, well, we don't we're not sure about that. Everyone needs to decide on their own. So you don't make a stand, do you? And so what they're saying is you evangelicals are stupid. You don't have anybody besides Biden, so you're gonna vote for the lesser of two evils, and we're gonna move this time around closer to the middle so that we can try and get more of the country to you know, as if you didn't have a landslide already. And, years ago when I was, reading some political books, I'm presently a political atheist, that's why we keep losing so many people because they can't put their hope and and love and their faith in Jesus. They have to have a, you know, a champion that's gonna get this country back, you know? And so vote for the lesser of the two evils, you know, that's gross immorality. Condoning it, tolerating it, allow that immorality to continue. And just because one is not as gross or as immoral publicly as as the other one, you know, the church is led to believe that, oh, we've got to get country back and this way we're gonna do it. We're gonna get the Donald in there again. Mister Warps beat Jabinol and people can't handle the way that I'm talking, but you have to talk like that. I am not going to tolerate evil. I'm just not gonna do it. I'm not gonna give my vote to overtly evil. So when I was studying some of this years ago, when the bushes were running and such, you watch Clinton win. Why? According to Ann Coulter, because the Republicans or the conservatives were wanting to be radical in in with morality, with what is right. They wanted to be radical on the conservative side, far to the right. But all that was coming down the pike was moderates in the middle, just a little bit, you know, to the right of Clinton and Gore. And so what happens is you don't inspire the Christian conservatives to even vote or go with that. So they just they just they're they're they're uninvolved. But she says, every time you have a candidate that comes far to the right, people come out in droves to vote and they win overwhelmingly, and guess what? Then they just get stolen. The the vote gets stolen last time. He won overwhelmingly, but it was stolen from him. Right? And so this time around, I don't know why, but they're moving to the middle. And maybe it's because, you know, the evangelicals got nobody else to put their hope in. I mean, I've been reading my Trump bible lately, I just can't find that in there, you know. I just can't find that abortion's okay in any way shape or form, know. And, if you can find it in your Trump bible, you know, let me know. I mean, the how audacious, how what the audacity of him having his own bible and his I mean, you gotta be beyond. You gotta be imbecilic to go along with that. I mean, it's just it's a no brainer. So what's my solution? I don't have a solution. But I know certain things that are wrong. Jabbing me is absolutely wrong. You're not gonna jab me, you know? There's certain things that are absolutely wrong and I know not to do them. Do I have a solution? No. I don't have a solution except Jesus. That's the only solution I have. So I believe if we will honor Jesus and put him first and live, you know, according to his word, judgment begins at the house of God. Judgment begins at the church. If we're all fornicating and adulterating and and into homosexuality and all these other things, we got no power. We're salt and light, but we're good for nothing to be trodden under the foot of men. So our vote means absolutely nothing if the church is incredibly corrupt. So the solution, if you want a solution for me, is let's clean our own house up. And let's let's turn to the Lord and call people to the Lord and call sin out, call sin sin, lest the leaven leavens the whole thing and becomes so incredibly corrupt. In the time of Adolf Hitler, he used the church. It was incredibly corrupt in in Germany. And he used the church for a period of time, and he described the church in Germany as a corrupted wall that he could topple at any time he wanted. But he used it for his his effort to try and bring conformity as they mistaught, as they, heretically taught Romans 13, wanting everyone to blindly just, you know, go along with what the government says. So we are to discipline in love. And notice number one, the rebuke. Verse one. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles that one should have his father's wife. So the word fornication is where we get our word pornography. It involves, several types of sexual sin, all forms of sexual sin. But these two were practicing something that wasn't even in vogue with the Greeks or the Romans. The Greeks and the Romans had laws against incest, if you can believe that. So these guys were freaking Paul out, basically, because they were doing things that even the world wasn't doing. Can you imagine that? That the church would be doing things that even people in the world have a higher standard, and they're just looking at people in the church and you know, like maybe maybe some priests, pedophiles with children, you know, and, years and years of it, and and a culture of immorality, preying upon children. And even out in the world, you go to prison, I've been told, for many years. If you go to prison and you're a red dot, you go to prison and you're a pedophile, the prisoners have moms, they have brothers, sisters, they have children, grandchildren, and you're a target in prison because you're you're a pedo. And, maybe we need, the guys in Washington DC to go to prison, you know. Let the prisoners deal with them. All these pedos in DC. So there's there's an immorality and see that that's an important distinction important point there. As the church corrupts, the society corrupts, and now you have the prevalence of pedophilia. It used to be they're fighting for same sex marriage or, you know, gays, lesbians, whatever, transgenderism, all these different things. But now it's come down to the normalization of pedophilia. We're the most weak, the most innocent of our society, and you know that society is at the very edge ready to topple, ready to go up, to fall upon itself when it reaches this point. But the church has no pushback. The church has no ability to preserve. When he says you're salt and light, salt is a preserving influence. Salt, you would salt the meat so to stave off putrefaction, the corruption. And we we don't have that power. That's why these churches that are, you know, let's make them as large as we can, nickels and noses, but you have no power. There's no power. There's no power to transform lives. Many of the churches today when they go on a the singles groups go on you know, I've been told by people when they go on a wine tasting venture out to Port Townsend somewhere, you know, they're they're in hotels and they're all shacking up with each other. These are church groups. Church groups doing this. When a woman in the church told me that when she was, single and she was looking for, you know, someone to date, really hard to find somebody, you know, qualified, went on the Christian dating sites and lo and behold, all they want is to hop in the sack the first date. No different than the world. And very frustrating for, men and women who are single and wanna find a suitable, you know, helpmate, a a person to share their life with. And, and how frustrating that is that the standards of the world in many cases are higher than that of even the church. And that's what Paul's saying here. This is outlandish. This is this is a scandal, you know, in this regard. And so they were practicing, something even the world doesn't do, that one should have his father's wife, so his stepmother. This incest was below, even the world's standards. In Amos two seven, the prophet says, a man and his father will go in unto the same maid to profane my holy name. God's saying that isn't what I designed sex for. Sex is designed by God between one man and one woman for one lifetime. That's it. He designed it. And, it's his idea for procreation, the oneness that we experience physically, emotionally, spiritually in a in a marital relationship. That's God's idea. Sexual perversion just honors God. And so in Hebrews thirteen four, marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. So marriage is a high high calling. Marriage depicts our relationship with God. The nation of Israel is the wife of Jehovah. God wants an intimate relationship with the nation of Israel. God wants an intimate relationship with his church. We are the bride of Christ. And so the two become one, that oneness that Jesus prayed concerning in John 17, that they would be one with us, father, as you and I are one. So when we partake of communion spiritually, symbolically, we're coming into a union, a oneness with the Godhead, with the true living God, and that's what he desires. That's what he's made us for. We're made for his own pleasure for the purpose of fellowship with him that we would know him. In first Timothy chapter four verse three, we're told that, in the last days, in the last days, as it says here, the spirit speaks expressly that in the latter times, people will be given over to doctrines of demons, where they'll, excuse me, they'll spirit speaks expressly in latter times, some shall depart from the faith and and be given over, be seduced by doctrines of demons. And it talks about how speaking lies in hypocrisy, their conscience being severed with a hot iron. And then it says, forbidding to marry. Marriage is under attack. Forbidding to marry. Why would you forbid to marry? Because the devil's against the family. Because the family is where a husband and wife produce children, and these children were to raise in the nurture admonition of the Lord, that these children would come to know Jesus. So if you're forbidding Mary, you're causing confusion, and you have a you have a whole generation of children disenfranchised and looking to the state looking to the state, the government, for direction in life. A redefinition of what it means to be a human being, all the different pronouns and such. So Satan is the author of confusion. And then it goes on to say, it's it's weird, one little phrase there, forbidding to marry. And when I first saw the latter part that we're I'm just gonna mention as a joke, but it goes on to say, and commanding people to abstain from the eating of meat. I have that memorized above my bed there, which God has created and has has indicated that everyone should be able to receive it with thanksgiving, you know, sanctified through thanksgiving, the the thanking God for your food. So continue to pray over your food. And just amazing to me, marriage gets a little tiny little thing there, three words, but food is a big deal. And and years ago when we started talking about this, the forbidding to eat meat and such, you know, people thought, you know, thought it was crazy. But now you see it, the bugs and the whole thing. And so, you know, I could I could get along real well-being single, I think, but I can't get along without my meat, you know. So it's it's a you know? It's it's rough out there, you know? God gave a big section to the meat part. It means something, doesn't it? So forbidding to marry. And, my mom's married seven times, so I really really wanted, to be married eventually, and have a family, and enter into all the things that were constantly being stripped from me, you know, taken from me. And I didn't know how to do it, but God used marriage and a family as an evangelistic persuasion in my life as I began to look at some of my friends who weren't Christians, but their parents, you know, had good home life. I lived with Andy Chirsen, a friend of mine, through my senior year of high school. I had to I had to live there to finish high school, but I was able to observe his mom and dad and all their laughter and fun and and all that, and it just was so different than where I grew up, you know? And, and it it it hit me, you know? And then mister Wohmer in high school, you know, you gotta write a report on what you wanna aspire to be and do when you get older, and I said, you know what? I wrote a paper on I wanna be married once and only once. I wanna have a family. And, and I didn't know how to do it, and I was a failure, and I would still be a failure if it weren't weren't for the Holy Spirit. If it weren't for God, helping me on a daily basis to to be a husband, be a father, be a grandpa, that sort of thing. So I know I owe the Lord everything in that regard, but some of you, maybe you don't value marriage that much. Sometimes you're raised in a Christian home and you don't see the value in it because, hey, it just came so easy for you. And or you've been through a divorce, you've been through personally, you've been through things like that, and there's deep deep, you know, hurt within. But certainly, you're not gonna succumb to incest. You're not gonna, you know, do things to that regard, or pedophilia, or homosexuality, or lesbianism, those sort of things that are that are, inappropriate. So we in the church, we should recognize inappropriate behavior, and that we're supposed to be able to, discipline. We have an immune system as the body of Christ. And unless we have to use that immune system to keep the body healthy, because if we don't, the leaven as we're gonna see here is gonna leaven the whole lump, that corruption's gonna permeate the whole. So the kids that are gonna come up, they're gonna observe what's going on like I did in my home, and they're gonna say, what is marriage? Is this what it's about? What what is the church? What what's the church about? Is church no different than the world? Absolutely no different than the world. Why should I be a Christian? Why should I go to church? What's the difference? You know? And so the secularizing of the church where the church is just a social club and people aren't living according to the power of the holy spirit, you know, in their lives. And so so marriage is a high calling. He says verse two, and you're puffed up and have not rather mourn. So the gay pride not only coming out of the closet, but now flaunting it. Now you've got parades. You've got naked men and women parading down main streets of major cities and flaunting, and they stole our rainbow. You know, they stole our rainbow, and they've got the rainbow thing going on, and they're bringing about a corruption. And I read this morning where Yuval Noah Harari, he's saying that, the elites are going to build an ark. What? You're gonna steal our ark now? You know? And they're gonna cause a flood to come against us common people. And so you've got Noah, the real Noah, a preacher of righteousness for a hundred and twenty years. You've got estimated billion people, billions upon the planet, and only eight people get into the boat. Only eight people, you know, come into come into Christ, get into Christ. The animals have enough sense to get in there. So it's interesting, these secularists, these demons, these Luciferians, they understand the biblical, you know, importance of these things and the stories and all. So he actually says, we elites are building an ark. And when we bring about famine, when we bring a flood of adversity against the planet, we're gonna be the ones that are saved. And then I listened to another teaching this week with a guy describing the burning man and, what was happening in Israel on October 7 when the they were attacked. That music festival was a burning man festival. And that Burning Man festival is is engineered and funded through Schmidt of Google and all the high-tech companies. And they begin to use terminology of reaching people for Lucifer, for Wiccan, and all that as salvation. They have a message of salvation for people that are abandoning Christianity, that are abandoning our faith, and they're pagans, and it's a paganism, reemergence of paganism. So we have to define our terms. There the devil, as I said, is one that wants to champion chaos, wants to break down all the the the moorings and the foundations of our culture, a Judeo Christian ethic, our culture being built upon the old and the new testament. And marriage is foundational to any society, and the devil wants to destroy that of marriage. So it's it's on our watch. It's on our watch that we demonstrate what it means to be in union with Jesus Christ. And when people are watching our marriages, they should be able to see there's a there's a unity, a oneness between a husband and a wife, a male and a female, until death do us part. And it's it's a tremendous tremendous message. And that's why the Satanists hate you so much. That's why they hate you so much. They're in such torment, and they see you experiencing such joy and peace and love and and, you know, conformity to the things of the Lord. The devil wants came to steal, to kill, and to destroy. So they wanna pervert everything and break it down. So I'm looking at it as, you know, you can be just a normal mom and dad raising kids. As Brittany Hershert says, you know, just a normal mom trying to raise kids, not communist, you know. And she gets a laugh out of that from peoples. And I agree with her. It's a powerful powerful calling of God and transformational for so many people. And yet, the flip side of it is if you don't do it, your culture's gonna just completely erode and fall apart. So he says, they're puffed up. They're prideful. They're flaunting it. Look at us. We're such a loving church. Love your neighbor. We're so loving, you know, we're not gonna judge. We're we're not gonna use the law. We're not gonna, you know, call anybody out or confront anybody. We're not gonna do that. We're not gonna rebuke anybody. We're loving. Love doesn't do that. Right? So when Obama changed the definition of marriage, and he brought forth the gay marriage, not through a vote because you voted twice to vote it down, but he said you got it wrong. And so when he became president, he just arbitrarily like a tyrant defined marriage. Man man, woman woman, now you've now you've gotta deal with animals. Now you gotta deal with marrying your dog, marrying marrying your cat, all that sort of thing. So again, another perversion that's that's being developed or children. At what age can you marry children? You know, the pedophilia and all the the laws are changing, the normalization of these guys preying upon your children and, how insane it is. And so rather than being ashamed, you know, you're puffed up and, godly sorrow leads to repentance, and so the people are just incredibly puffed up. They just don't care. God sends two angels down into Sodom and Gomorrah, and the they're there to rescue Lot and his family, but the men of the city want to know these two men, these two angels. And they won't stop. And Lot says, hey, this is wrong guys. This is wrong. How about my virgin daughters? No father of the year. Right? And they didn't want the virgin daughters. They wanted to know these men. The pride that they had, the arrogance, the tenacity, they're not gonna stop. And today, when you watch the immorality of the culture, they're not gonna stop. They're not gonna just passively go away. And so the only thing they understand is brute force. That's it. So if you're gonna be passive toward evil, William Burke, as he said, the only the only thing needed for good, you know, for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing. And so what can we do? Educate. We're educators. We proclaim the good news. We proclaim God's truth, and then we live it. And it's a powerful persuasion, a powerful influence. That's why they hate you so much. Just simply be a dad. Simply be a mom. Have a family. And do it do it Christ way. Do it biblically. It's a powerful influence to a world that's perishing as they're wanting that intimacy as the Lord uses the family, he uses marriage as a picture of the relationship he wants to have with you. That you would know him and be one with him. In Psalm one nineteen one thirty six, it says, rivers of waters run down mine eyes because they keep not your law. It dishonors God. Ezra the priest when he went back to Jerusalem and the rebuilding the walls with Nehemiah and Ezra nine verse six, he says, oh my God, I'm ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my god. For our iniquities are increased in our head and our trespasses grown up under the heavens, so they're drowning in sin and people aren't even blushing. There was a time where you'd say certain words or certain things and people would blush in embarrassment. It was so, you know, knowing that it's wrong, but people don't blush anymore. They're flaunting. They're flaunting themselves in all sorts of image, all sorts of fornication, all sorts of pornographic material being flaunted. You know, it's like a sewer. And so we have to be so careful of our impressionable young people, our our boys and girls getting on these electronics and getting on the Internet and being being overwhelmed, being flooded with pornography, flooded with fornication, adultery, all those sorts of heinous things that corrupt the minds of these of these children. And so we're to discipline in love. Number one, the rebuke. So Paul's given them a rebuke. It's wrong for you to be puffed up about this. Sin is serious. Sin will destroy. Sin will make you sick. So you've got to confront it. So if you're confronted in your sin, it's because somebody loves you. They love you enough to confront you. They don't want you to continue down that path of destruction. And then he says the remedy, the second part of verse two, that he that has done this deed might be taken away from among you. He says verse three, for verily as absent in body, so Paul isn't there, but he's got a letter describing what's happening. And as an apostle, he says, but present in spirit, I've judged already. I've already judged this. This is a no brainer. As though I were present concerning him that has so done this deed. Verse four, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the authority that we have, Matthew 18 is in the name of Jesus Christ. When you're gathered together, my spirit with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh. So what's he saying? Excommunication. Excommunicate them in love. It's loving to extricate him or her, but seems the woman was a pagan, didn't have a relationship with the Lord. But this believer here, he claimed to be a believer, was involved in this illicit relationship. So excommunicate him. Get him out of the fellowship. Kick him out. Now, has anybody ever seen any of that happen in the churches in Kitsap County? Any kind of discipline in that way? Done in a biblical manner, in a loving manner? Probably not. Very few. Did it work? Does it work? In this case, there's only one church in Corinth. Soon as you kick this guy out, guess what? He goes to the next church down the street in Kitsap County. He finds a church that'll accept him in his sin as long as he's writing a big check. It's the writing of the big check that opens the door for you to live however you want. That's all they care about. It's just all about the money, the nickels and the noses. Very sad, isn't it? Makes me so sad. Church I went to when I got saved didn't care about the money, didn't beg for money. The bible's taught, continues to be taught, and that's what protected me. That's where the riches came. That's where I was secure with my wife and my family. I began to learn what it means to be a husband. What it means to be faithful. Excommunicate them. Kick them out. In Matthew eighteen fifteen, if your brother trespass against thee, go to him and let him know. Go privately and let him know. Take him aside and say, hey, you know, I work with you and we go to the same church. You're flirting with the with the gal here at work and and you guys are going off to hotel rooms and having affairs. They call it affairs nowadays, make it sound good. You're committing adultery, man. You're committing fornication. Why don't you mind your own business? Well, this is my business. I love you. And I don't wanna see your home trashed. I don't wanna see your wife and your children trashed. I want you to to wake up, man. Wake up. Stop it right now. That's the most loving thing you can do. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, the kiss of an enemy are deceitful. Confront him. And if he doesn't listen to you, then you go and get a couple other witnesses. We're gonna broaden the scope here, bud. And then you go with him with another Christian guy, gal, whatever, and you go to him and warn him again. And he still won't listen. Now you go and you bring it before the leadership of the church. You come, hey, pastor Rick, this is what's happening. So and so is doing this, that, and the other. Then pastor Rick have to go in there and check it out, see what's up. Oh, it's flagrant. It's all out in the open. What's pastor Rick gonna do about it? I can't say anything. They're the biggest givers in the church. Man, I don't know how I'll make my house payment if I go confront them. I barely get by. So I'm driving home from the church, and I'm going by this house, and I see this woman's car at this other guy's house. And I'm seeing it over and over, and the husband's telling me, hey, my wife is wanting a divorce, and she's sleeping with this guy. And I didn't take that route home just to be nosy, it's just my route home. And so I drove by that, their cars there at his house a few times, but she's at church with her arms up praising the Lord. Both of them, the not not the boyfriend, but the husband. And he's just all in torment like, I want my wife back. I want my wife back. Ugly, ugly scene. So pastor Rick should have wimped out. Right? I should have just loved on them all. So I'm going down the road and the Lord convicts me. And so I swing it back around the van, the church van. I come up to the house, and we're gonna see this in this text here. And you have to qualify. You have to ask them this question. Are you a Christian? If they're not a Christian, as we come on through this passage, Paul's gonna say, you don't judge the world. You judge those within. Are you a Christian? Oh, yeah. We're Christians. Well, the Bible says, adulterers and fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God. What do you say about that? Oh, we're Christians. You need to get out of here. You need to get out of here. Now they're mad at me. They're walking me out, you know, out in the out on the yard out front and stuff. And so, would have been great to restore the family, restore the wife to her husband and all that, but it just got uglier and uglier and uglier. But our little church was a little bit safer because she did not return to the church to parade her sin in front of all these impressionable young people. And as people begin to talk about what's going on, you you gotta act. You have to act because you gotta glorify the Lord. You gotta trust Jesus. And if you lose your house, you lose stuff, so be it. But you can't be a hireling. You can't be owned by these people. You can't allow them, any of them poor, rich, middle class, whatever to get away with these things and cause the leaven to permeate the rest and corrupt the sweetness of the fellowship. You have to deal with it. Let them be to you as a heathen or a publican, Jesus said. So Jesus is the one that said, excommunicate, but it's the last resort. You've tried. You've tried everything else. It's the last resort. In verse three, Paul makes the diagnosis diagnosis, excuse me. He judges the deed. I verily is absent in body, but present in spirit have judged already as though I were present concerning him that had so done this deed. There's no apology from Paul. He's not apologizing. He's not saying, oh, I'm so sorry that you don't think that's loving. I'm so sorry, you know, that there's no apology. There's a righteous indignation. This is wrong. There are things that are wrong. There's things that are right. There's things that are black. There's things that's white. But we're living in a time where people can't discern between their left hand and their right hand. They don't know up from down because the church has failed to teach the word of God. They've taken a sloppy agape, easy believe ism, a blab it and grab it, a false pseudo love that isn't really love. Love seeks the highest good for the person. Do you think it's good? Incest? Paraded incest incest in a church? You think that's good? You think you're gonna stand back and say, applaud these people? Oh, that's good. And and one of you raising your kids, the kids come home from school, which I don't even want you to send your kids to public school. For this very reason, your kid comes home and says, hey, you know, I want a sex change. And laws are changing that you as a parent can't even interfere. You can't you can't even rescue your kid in that regard. They're gonna take them away from you and help them get their operation and their and all of their hormones to change their gender. And what? You're gonna pray that in the church? Like the Hollywood people parade their kids all transitioning? They're influencers. They're leaven. They wanna leaven the whole lump. But you and I as a church can be salt and light and say, no. That's not good for that child. We love this kid. We we we wanna try and rescue this kid. We wanna rescue them from fornication, from pornography, from adultery, from alcohol, drugs, LBGT, whatever it may be. We're we're rescuers. We wanna rescue them. We don't wanna tolerate, condone it, give into it, encourage it, look the other way, don't ask, don't tell. No. Paul's not apologizing here. This unrepentant practice sin, so let's let's qualify that. Somebody sins, give them some space. Let the holy spirit convict them. You're not the holy spirit. But if you see practicing sin over and over and over and over in your face kind of sin, you gotta confront them. If you love him, you gotta confront him. If you love Jesus, you gotta confront him, and you gotta do it in love. So Galatians six one, if any man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of meekness, meek, lest you also be tempted. So don't be all puffed up. Don't be all puffed up and acting like you're Johnny righteous or whatever, you know. Sorry, John. Sorry, John. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. There's none righteous, no, not one. We're all in the same camp. We're all sinners in need of a savior. We've all been sinned. But sin shall not have dominion over you. You cannot continue in sin saying it's not my fault. It's a sickness. I've got this kind of a brain or that kind of a brain. We've all got the same brain, a fallen brain. Alright? We're brain dead, all of us. And the Lord brings us back to life. You're a sinner. You know that much about yourself. Admit it. And bring that sin to the cross and ask Jesus to transform and change you, to make you new. It's volitional. You choose to sin. Nobody's making you sin. Stop it right now. Stop it. It's that simple. It's that simple. You don't have to make it a big deal. You're the first person on the planet that's ever had this sickness. We've all got it. What's the solution? Stop it. Quit drinking. Quit doing the drugs. Quit the porn. Right now, stop it. That's it. That's it. That it's that simple. Replace it with what? With Jesus. Get into God's word. It's not complicated. Sin makes you stupider and more stupider. Do you see the people that get away from God's word, the stupid things they do? I don't wanna be any stupider than I already am. God, You know, what what were you thinking? You had it all. What? We're gonna call this a midlife crisis? You're gonna throw it all away, what? For what? Some young girl, young guy, they do it both ways nowadays. It's crazy. Absolutely crazy. I'm so thankful for the simplicity of the gospel. The simplicity of living my life in humility, doing things God's way. Only time I get in trouble is when I get puffed up. When I get puffed up, oh, look out, Rick. If any man thinks he stands, take heed lest he fall. Rick, you need me today. Yeah, Lord. I know. And last week, when I'm opening up and I'm telling you about our struggles, my struggles as a father with my prodigal daughter and such, you know, it's we're all the same. We're struggling with righteousness, but we don't give into immorality. We don't give into it and just say, well, you know, I was raised in alcoholic family. That's why I'm an alcoholic. No. That's a life in the pit of hell. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things are passed away. All things have become new. Otherwise, we should just shut the bible, go take pills, self medicate, and what? Kill each other, you know? There's no hope. No hope for humanity. But since Jesus is raised from the dead, and since we do have the Holy Spirit, we do have his word, we have the basic instructions before leaving earth right here, the bible, then let's obey the word of God and see how God would transform and change us. Okay? We're not gonna be those that make excuses for immorality, and then try to huddle around in the church of like minded people who won't confront us in our sin because we're all in sin. That's a corrupt church. I don't want anything, to do with that sort of a culture of immorality. And that's why last week I got kinda angry because I see where things that happen to my daughter have happened to many many people's children where you're disarmed, you allow your children to go to youth group because you think the people are like minded with you concerning right and wrong, but you're dead wrong. They're not like minded with you, and they're preying upon your innocent boys and girls. And then by the time you find out about it, it's too late because you're too stupid to understand the the temperature or the condition of the church today, how incredibly corrupt it is. Don't trust any youth group in Kitsap County. Don't. Make sure that you're a part of it, that you know exactly what's going on. And I don't know how to get the kids to open up and tell you the stuff, but but, it's eventually gonna come out. It's gonna break your heart if you're not careful if you don't vet them. Can't just send them over there and let them babysit your teenage kids and think that it's everything's gonna be okay. It's like it's like being at the high school. Same stuff at high schools are in the youth groups. The guys up there with the guitars, playing the guitars, and getting the girls to like them, and the guy preaching and all, they're naked with them in a hot tub after the youth group. By their own admission, they'll tell you that the Christian girls are the easiest ones to get into bed. That's their own admission. That's what I learned after the fact. And the pastors and leadership don't discipline those youth leaders and musicians because they're effective in drawing the kids. It's a culture of immorality. Unbelievable. So hand them over to Satan. Deliver means to hand over to Satan's world, the god of this world, the kingdom of darkness. Now again, if we try to do that to somebody here, they're just gonna run to another church and they're gonna hide out there. So they're not gonna feel the full effect of being outside a place where they can be with loving people that'll protect them and help them, and instead you're gonna give them over to the dark side, and then now Satan's gonna be able to buffet them because the Lord's gonna remove the hedge of protection. And now they're gonna be disciplined like the prodigal was in the pigpen. Their own actions are gonna discipline them. They're gonna reap the consequences of their actions, and enough pain is applied that finally they reach a point where they say, uncle, okay. I get it. I shouldn't be doing this. And so without the fellowship and the protection of the body, Satan brings them place of being miserable. Now, the dog going back to its vomit or a pig going back to the wallowing in the mire, when you do excommunicate that person, if they're not miserable, if they get along just fine out in the world, that means they weren't a Christian to begin with. But if they go out into the world and they miss church, they miss the bible, they miss the teaching, they miss you, and they're reaching a place where they can't cope mentally, they can't deal with with the torment and such, the discipline that's coming, Then hopefully, they'll come back, they'll confess their sin. And, and if they do confess their sin, and they demonstrate the fruits of repentance, you're to receive them again. You're to receive them back into the fellowship. That's the objective. The objective is not punitive, it's restorative. To restore the person, it's love. The best thing you can do for them is to help them get out of that corrupting demonic relationship of incest and to rescue them before they destroy everyone around them, including themselves. That's why homosexual marriages don't work. That's why they're highly promiscuous and in and out of marriage over and over and over because it goes against God's design. It's a counterfeit. And, many are running from the Lord, and many come to the Lord. People can come out of the gay, the lesbian lifestyle, and come unto Christ. Many do. But they need to be told the truth. First Timothy one twenty, Hymenaeus and Alexander whom I have delivered unto Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme. So Paul delivered these two guys under Satan that Satan could buffet them, Satan could whoop on them, that they learn not to blaspheme. Job was delivered to Satan. And Job was bragged on by God as a man that was perfect and upright in all his ways, a man that feared God and skewed evil. And how did God repay that behavior? He sent the hit man. He sent the devil. Satan, where you been? Oh, I've been walking to and fro upon the urn. Have you considered my servant Job? Now Lord, don't brag on Rick Bodrey. Okay? Don't do that. I'm a filthy sinner, Lord. Alright? Just leave me alone. Let me operate under the radar. Okay? Have you considered my servant Job, a man perfect and upright in all of his ways, a man that fears God and excused evil? You would think Job was pleasing God. Right? And Satan says, well, he doesn't love you for who you are. He loves you for all the stuff. Take away all of his stuff, and he'll curse you to your face. And you know the story. Satan was allowed to take away all the stuff. He's on a leash. He can only go so far, no further, but boy, it was far enough to take away everything. Right? Including some of his children. And then Job's response, naked came I into the world, naked I'm gonna go, the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Satan didn't win. God proved correct. He loves me for me. Do you love God for who he is? If God takes away all your stuff, will you still worship and praise him? And then he says, well, he doesn't love you for who you are. Take away his health. Skin for skin, all that a man has will he give for his life. And many of you have been put through that test. Your health has been taken away from you. And you're on the verge of almost dying, but you're still praising the Lord. Satan's not gonna win. Amen. You're scraping boils, you know. You're going through my personal greatest fear. That would be it for me. But you guys came through like champions, worshiping, praising the Lord. The trials didn't make you bitter, they made you better. And Satan hates that, doesn't he? He hates that. He wants mercenaries. He wants to be able to say to the rock and rollers, hey, I'll make I'll give you a fame. I'll give you a fortune if you bow down and worship me. That's what he tried with Jesus. Right? I'll give you all the kingdoms of the world, and so many people do, don't they? They bow down and worship the devil, and he's able to give them the material wealth and fame and stuff that they crave, and and it's just a vapor. Their life is but a vapor. It's soon over, and then an eternity in hell. And then we watch Job progress, and there comes a point in time where he says, as the Lord says, where were you when? And Job is fighting. He's fighting and fighting for justification and adazement. He needs a mediator. He needs someone to intercede in the courtroom of law as he's as he's pleading his righteousness. And finally, he says, I abhor myself and I repent in dust and ashes. And when was that? When he saw the Lord. If you're not in close communion with the Lord, you can see yourself as pretty good. But when the light shines of his glory upon your life, you're like Peter away from me from a sinful man. You're like Job, I have bore myself. I repent in dust and ashes. And then the Lord was able to, as Job came to repentance, Job God was able to do even more with Job's life than he did prior. Peter, Jesus told him in Luke twenty two thirty one, hey, Peter. Satan desires you that he may sift you as wheat. Satan wants to beat on you, Peter. He wants to wipe you out. But Peter, I'm praying for you. Don't you love it knowing that Jesus ever lives to make intercession for you and I? No matter what satanic attack comes against you, God's using it for good. God's using the devil to whoop on you for good, bring you to the end of yourself. But Peter, I'm praying for you that your faith fail not. That's the most important thing we possess is our faith in Jesus. When the son of man comes, will he find faith on the earth? Your faith is so precious. Your faith is a gift from God. And faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Faith needs to grow. We need to continue to grow in faith, love, and hope. And so Peter, when you're converted, strengthen the brethren. And then Peter begins to brag and boast about how, I'm not gonna deny you, and Jesus said before this night's over, before the cock crows, you're gonna deny that you even know me on three different occasions. And the Lord's gonna restore Peter at the Sea Of Galilee when they go back to fishing after the resurrection. They go back to fishing, Peter and six of the boys, So dejected because at crunch time, they weren't there for Jesus. And Peter Peter is there with the Lord and the Lord says, love us, thou me more than these Peter, than the fish or the guys that you're boasting about. Feed my sheep, tend my lambs, feed my sheep, Peter. That's the job of a pastor. I'm not giving up on you, Peter. I know what a failure you are, but I'm here to help you. I'm here to transform you. I'm here to change you. Not just body and soul and your natural ability, but the power of the holy spirit operative in your life. The purpose is always restoration as Jesus restored Peter and the boys on the Sea Of Galilee there. He said, children, have you caught any fish? When he first was recruiting them and calling them into the ministry as they're fishing, they didn't catch any fish. Well, cast your net on the other side and they were nets were full of fishes. Now, three and a half years later, Jesus is resurrected. Deja vu, the same thing. Cast your net on the right side at your word, Lord. Okay. And the it's bursting, bursting with fish. It's the Lord. Peter jumps in the water, and they come to shore, and the Lord restores the boys. Restores them. I haven't given up on you guys. I know what you're made of. I made you from the dust of the ground, but you're gonna be bold in the face of the lion. You're gonna be bold. You're gonna go away rejoicing that you're accounted worthy to suffer for my name's sake when the religious leaders tell you can't preach in my name anymore. You guys are gonna see power when the Holy Ghost comes upon you. You can be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth. But the Lord had to prepare these guys. How do we prepare them? Restoring them. Restoring them from their disobedience, their lack of faith, their unbelief, their fear, being paralyzed with fear, the Lord restored them. If any man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, lest you also be tempted. Our sin always looks ugliest on someone else as we're pointing the sin in their life. When you're pointing a finger, you got three pointing back to you. Remember that. Three point back oh, I don't want you to see that. Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Humble thyself in the sight of the Lord and he shall lift you up. We are to discipline in love. The rebuke, the remedy, thirdly, the reason, the second part of verse five, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. So God brings the rebellious believer to the end of himself even if it means physical death. That's heavy. That's heavy. I don't want that phone call. I don't want that phone call. I've done some funerals where guys have OD'd, and their Christian family came to town from California, and they described their son's walk and relationship with the Lord when he was younger. And they thanked me that the last six months of his life that my daughter Jessica brought him into our lives, and I went to the hospital to visit him and and took them out to lunch and tried to minister as best I could, and and and he was is in a really bad way, and then he overdosed on heroin in Manette. And we went and we did the funeral, and this family was here in this church, and it was very, very painful. But they were rejoicing that although his body was dead, that he was with Jesus, that he came back to his faith. Ain't that comforting? And so whether it's your daughter, your son, there may be a point in time where in their disobedience as a prodigal, they're still saved. And I know some are saying, no, they're not. They're not no, they're still saved. They're his. They belong to Jesus. And in their disobedience, the Lord may chasten them to the point of physically taking them home. I mean, physically, they die. It says here until the day of Jesus. And so what happens then? The dead in Christ shall rise first, and we that are alive and remain shall be caught up together with him in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, so shall we ever be with the Lord. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear, we should be like him, for we shall see him as he is. And he that has this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure. So that day of seeing Jesus face to face is when my life, my daughter, your daughter, your loved one, when they see Jesus face to face is when they're perfected. Ananias and Sapphira, they were distant disciplined to the point of lying to the holy spirit. In acts five, Barnabas gave them, sold some land and gave it to the apostles, set it at the apostles' feet. Ananias and Sapphira saw all the attention that Barnabas was receiving, and they craved that attention, and they sold a portion of land. They kept back part of the price. And Peter asked him, did you sell for such and such a price? And Ananias said, yes, and he dropped dead. But Peter told him, you haven't lied to me. You're lying to the Holy Spirit. You're lying to God. So for a lie, he dropped dead. Three hours later, his wife walks in. He asked her, hey, did you sell for such and such a price? She says, yes. She dropped dead. The guys that hold Ananias away, they hold Sapphire away. Now, if you saw the Holy Spirit discipline somebody in this fellowship in that manner, what would that do? It would it's called fear. It's called not a bad fear. It's a good fear. It's a reverence. It's an awe for God. You'd be so in awe of God, we call it respect. You would so respect God. Fear fell upon the early church. God was wanting a pure church because he was doing a great work in Jerusalem there. And then God began to do miraculous things through the church that was tolling, completely focused upon the true and living God. In Jude one twenty three, others saved with fear pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garments spotted by the flesh. Notice verse six, your glory is not good. Know you not that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Leaven speaks of influence. These are your influencers on social media. They are influencers. Now, you can influence for good or you can influence for evil. I like like, I don't know if Brock Purdy is a Christian or if he's a Mormon, but I like that he mentions Jesus Christ. Alright? I like Kurt Warner when he was a quarterback for the Rams and the Cardinals that he would mention Jesus Christ. I like Tim Tebow. You're on the world stage and you're glorifying the Lord. I don't like the guys that wimp out and kneel down and, you know, hate our flag, hate our country, hate God, that whole thing. That's that's an influence for bad. You can influence for good or bad. Leaven is, typically in the bible, an influence for bad of immorality. So the bad influence spreads corruption on the whole. So the sourdough bread you have, you've got a starter. That starter is what? The yeast. The yeast is the leaven. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. It permeates the whole church. If you allow that immorality and you're laughing at it, you know, oh, we're so liberal here. We're so loving here. We're so this that. That permeates. It's a corruption. It'll permeate the whole church. So I don't mind being a pastor of a small little church as long as the church is serious about their walking relationship with Jesus. Just be serious about it. Don't play games with me or with God. I know we're sinners, and we're not here to be pharisees and to kick everybody out, you know. I don't even wanna know. Don't tell me. Because if you tell me, I gotta go to your house. I'll be knocking on the door, and I'm not bringing fresh baked cookies either. Alright? That's me, pastor. You can bring me cookies. Alright. So love does the highest good, preserve the purity of the whole, cut the cancer out. So I'm thinking in terms of generationally, we we've got kids we're raising that are watching us, modeling the Christian life. We don't want them to go away from here saying we're all hypocrites, and then get to college age and want nothing to do with Jesus. We we need to our kids to observe and watch us fall and get back up, be forgiven, confess our sin, and keep going with Jesus. That's reality. None of us have arrived, and we don't have to put on the airs and act like we all have it together. It's a safe environment to be who we are, sinners, that Jesus makes into saints. But it takes a lifetime, doesn't it? Jesus mentioned the leaven of the pharisees was their hypocrisy, their their false doctrine, their heresy, and such. He says, verse seven, purge out there for the old leaven. So get the guy out of there that you may be a new lump as you're unleavened for even the, even Christ our Passover sacrificed for us. So he's reaching back and he's showing them the the festival of Passover and the feast of unleavened bread that before the Passover, you would have to get rid of all the leaven in your house. You have to go search for all the leaven, get rid of it, get it out of the house. Leaven be a type of sin. And then even Christ, our Passover was sacrificed for us, so the old leaven must be purged. All remnants of the old life must be purged. And that's why last week we lost a few people because I won't let anybody get away with taking their old life into their new life and acting like it's a disease that they need therapy for. Won't tolerate it. It's a lie. It's a bold faced lie from the pit of hell. It means the gospel is not powerful enough. It means Jesus is not powerful enough. It means the holy spirit is not powerful enough. It means that we need these new Freud and Reutz and Younger and everybody else to teach us human behavior and to overcome sin in our life. Oh, but it's not sin, it's a sickness. Yeah. You're sick because you sin. Now, if any man be in Christ, he's a new creation, the old things are passed away, all things have become new. Because why? Because we got rid of the old leaven. We're a new creation. We move on. We forget those things that we hide. We press forth, forward. We're moving forward. We don't sit there and dwell in the past and think about all the leaven that people did to us or the leaven that's in our life. I have a new beginning every single morning. God's mercies are new every morning. Get rid of the leaven. Get it out of your life. Just don't do it. If your phones cause you to sin, get rid of your phone. If your right hand's causing you to sin, get rid of your right hand. If your eyes causing you to sin, pluck it out. It's serious. Be a pirate. That's what Jesus said. Sin is serious. It's serious. So analyze your life. What's causing me to sin? What am I letting in through the eye gate? What am I letting in through the ears? What am what are the influences I'm allowing into my life that's that's causing my lust to be inflamed? You can never satisfy your lust. It'll always want more. So you gotta starve the lust. You gotta crucify the flesh. You gotta mortify the deeds of the flesh. You gotta reckon the old man dead. You gotta take your cross up daily and follow Jesus. No longer I living, but Christ living through me, and you get the victory. But if you give a concession to one tiny area in your life to sin, that leaven's going to permeate the whole part of your being. It's gonna take you down. Just takes time to work its way all through the lump. Nip it in the bud. Get rid of it. Get it out of your marriage. It's gonna destroy you. Pornography will destroy your marriage. Remove the fornication. Get rid of the television. There's a pastor guy that had a guy in his church and he said he said, you know pastor, I've been having trouble with the cable television in my house. Pastor, oh, yeah. What? Well, I've been watching some pornography. It's really really a hard temptation. The pastor, oh, go show me. Go show me. Pastor went over there and grabbed the cable going into the house and just ripped it out. Ripped it out of the wall. That's love. I'm sure he disconnected from the TV first, but he ripped it out of the wall. Remove it. Cut it out. Get rid of it. Otherwise, it's gonna grow. It's gonna get worse. The children of Israel to start out fresh. They were to start out fresh after coming out of out of Egypt, and they celebrated the Passover. And the angel of death passed over the houses that had the blood upon the doorpost. And there's a start fresh symbolic of the cross. You and I, when we come to Jesus, when we come to the cross, we start fresh. If any man being Christ, he's a new creation. The old things are passed away. All things are become new. Oh, but pastor, I got these old memories. Well, take every thought captive, the obedience of Christ. Allow your brain to establish new patterns. Why do you think the bible uses the word transformation? It's not the globalist word to transform humans and all. It's our word. The arc's ours. The rainbow's ours. The devil's a counterfeit. Be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Take every thought captive and every high thing in imagination that exalts itself above Christ and bring it into the captivity to the authority of God's word. Amen. Develop new habits. Walk in fellowship with him. Keep living the truth. He says, therefore, let us keep the feast not with the old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice. The word malice speaks of an inward depravity, which leads to an outward acting out which is wickedness, the next word. The outward depravity, the porneia. But with the unleavened bread of sincerity, sincere means no wax, no hypocrisy, sincerity and truth. So keep living the truth. No posers. Our sin will find us out. We're to discipline in love, the rebuke, the remedy, the reason. Fourthly, the the restriction. Verse nine. I wrote unto you in an epistle not so there's a previous epistle. There's a previous first Corinthians that we don't have in the canon. But Paul says, wrote to you wrote to you an epistle not to company with fornicators. So don't hang out with fornicators. Verse 10. That's why I asked you at the beginning. Any fornicators here? Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or with idolaters. For then must she needs go out of the world. Any murderers here? Jesus said, if you're angry with your brother, you're already a murderer. Jesus said, you lust, look upon a man or a woman, you're already an adulterer. The sin is internal, not just the external, guards my heart. Now I've heard one pastor say, the first look is not sin. We live in a beautiful world. God made them women beautiful. And I would go so far as to say that I I might even be a lesbian because I love women. I don't like men, but God made these women beautiful. And that first look, I grew up at the beach. It's everywhere. It's everywhere. So what are you gonna do with that? The first look's not sin. It's that second look, the third look. So you're at the gym and these girls are hardly wearing any clothes nowadays. You gotta keep your head down. Your head down. That first look, boy, they slap you in the face with it. Woah. Woah. Get some clothes on, girl. And all the young people, you know, they all went, but hey, old guys old guys too. Never outgrow it, I guess. I don't know. I don't know. I'm still attracted to Kathy. That first look's not sin. That second look is sin. That then it becomes lust and it conceives in there, and you start meditating. Think about it. It gets worse. Might have to cut out the gym, might not be able to go to the gym anymore if it gets worse. If you can't handle it, pastor Chuck used to say, if you can't handle the beach, don't go to the beach. Oh, I don't want that to happen, you know? So you keep your head down. You look the other way. You think good thoughts. You know? You know, they're they're they're, like, trying to get your attention like Bathsheba did up on top of the roof. They know what they're doing. So don't be don't be like don't be stupid. Guard your heart. Guard your mind. I listen to bible teaching and praise and worship music and keep my head down, keep my eyes down because, they can really mess with my concentration. I'll tell you that. So maybe maybe you don't have enough testosterone anymore. I don't know, but but, I'm being honest. You think I can run around because I'm so holy and not affect me? I know you guys. I know you women too. I'm I'm learning the women are just as aggressive as the men in this culture. Your greatest greatest insurance against falling is be being filled with the holy spirit. Have a good walk with the lord. Close walk with Jesus. And if there's something in your life that keep causing you to trip up and fall in your thought life, because remember, sow a thought, reap what? An action. Sow an action, what? Reap a habit. So a habit, reap a character. Do you want to be known as an old creeper? I'm hearing people call me an old guy now. Girl tapped me on the shoulder at the baseball thing yesterday and says, hey, old guy. And I'm, where? Where's where's the old guy? Another guy at the gym says to me says to me, yeah, my my, my wife, I told her, yeah, you know the the really strong guy, the who who? The the really strong guy, the old guy with the mullet? I'm like, mullet? Now you're really kidding me, you know? I don't have a mullet. I don't like that. I don't receive senior discounts. I don't identify as an old guy. I don't know why so many people are calling me old. I asked Kathy last night in bed, do I am I old? Well, you're 64, Rick. I don't feel it. Do I really look that old? Is that old? Is that old, Kath? And then I saw a picture of Clint Eastwood. He looks old, that Clint Eastwood. He's all frail and hardly walk. It's crazy out there, I'll tell you. So the restriction. I wrote under you an epistle not to accompany with fornicators in his previous letter, yet not to altogether with fornicators of this world or with the covetous or extortioners or idolaters for them much he needs go out of the world. So it's a long list there. We're talking about sinners, talking about worldly people. I'd have to go start a commune somewhere where only we as Amish would just live there if I tried to get away from that. It's everywhere. It's it's at work with you. It's everywhere you go. The immorality is everywhere. It's not just at the gym. It's everywhere. It's in the grocery store, all of it. So you can expect all that to continue. You can't judge all them people. They they, they're worldly people. Don't expect them to be saints. They're sinners. But the distinction in the church is a different whole different enchilada. That's why you qualify. You say, do you consider yourself to be a Christian? If they say yes, game on. Now they're accountable to the word of God. If they're not a Christian, now we preach the gospel to them so that they might come to know Christ. That their life would be transformed and changed. Can't make them live a godly life. So an important restriction. If he calls himself a brother, the judgment applies. Jesus said, you'll know them by their fruit. So again, with Donald Trump, if he claims to be a Christian, then I'm gonna judge him according to being a Christian. If he's pro abortion, I'm judging fruit. That's not right. If they're having a a party at Mira Lago to raise funds with the LBGTQ, that's not Christian. If he's the doctor, if he's the champion of the warp speed jab, millions and millions of people dying, he's a murderer. He's not a Christian. I don't know why that isn't so simple for people. It's it's a no brainer. But oh, you're so in love with America, you're so lacking hope that America's going down. Get over it. It's going down. It's circling the drain in the toilet, America. No plunger's gonna fix it. It's down. It's so incredibly corrupt. It's a sewer. And there's no Trumper or anybody that's gonna fix it. It's going down. And it's going down because of the church being so corrupt. It's our fault. It's the pastor's fault because they didn't teach the word over the last thirty years, and the people are so incredibly dumbed down. It's all sensual. It's feelings. They can't discern between right and wrong. How do you correct that? Jesus has gotta come, man. When I heard about the Israel getting bombed yesterday and the war breaking out, you know, I'm praying for the peace of Jerusalem. I'm saying, let them fly. Let's get home. Let's let's get it over with. Let's just get this over with. It's such an incredible dog and pony show. Let's go home, Lord. Nothing can save this except Jesus. Jesus is eating with publicans and sinners. And he says, they that are holding in on a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. So we hang out with the unbelievers in the world to to save them. We don't just hang out with Christians, we want the unbelievers. I expect the unbelievers to act like unbelievers. But the Christians in the church, as we said, there's a whole different standard. We're not to be like the world. We don't come in here and talk the same way, crack the same jokes, dress the same, watch the same. We're to be distinctly different. Some people in the church think that, well, I wanna be relevant, so I need to go to the bars and be like the world. They see right through you what a poser you are. They want nothing to do with your impotency, your spiritual impotency. Show them what a real Christian is. That's what they're aspiring for. They just can't find one because the world is so the churches are so worldly, they have no power. No power at all. I couldn't I couldn't handle the whole drinking thing that came through the church a few years ago. Being like the world, what kind of brew would Jesus brew? And such idiocy. Just incredible idiocy, but oh, it was it was rock star. Look at how many people are coming here. Yeah. Well, how many DUIs? How many lives destroyed? How many marriages destroyed? Bunch of morons? And I told him so. So I'm at a restaurant, I told these guys, you guys are idiots. What are you doing? That's why they love me so much. Those within should know better. He says verse 12, for what I have to do with judge them also that are without, do not you judge them that are within? So those without, they need to get saved. Those within, they should know better. So Joseph, he had no adult supervision over him. He left home when he was about 17. He's in prison. He's at the home of Potiphar. Potiphar's wife's coming on to him day by day, sees Joseph's a good looking guy, high tea and all that. Her husband's away on business, and she day after day say, hey, lie with me. Lie with me. And he says, hey, I'm the number one numero uno guy in this house here. Your husband's given me oversight of everything. The only thing he's kept for me is you. And then he says, how could I do this great evil against God? You see vertically, he's so tight with the Lord, he's not gonna give into that. That's the greatest to turn of sin is your walking relationship with the Lord. David, in a time when kings go out to battle was idle, and that's why he was he took the bait that the devil put there with a naked Bathsheba bathing on the on the roof. David's got a harem of women, but David's got a lust problem. He wanted one more. So he stole Uriah the Hittite's wife, one of his mighty men, murdered Uriah by the Ammonites as he's in war, Tried to cover his sin for a year. He was miserable. Psalm thirty two thirty eight and Psalm 51, you hear David crying out repentant in repentance and crying out unto God. And God in his grace and mercy did what? He didn't tolerate it. God in his grace and mercy sent Nathan the prophet to say, David, you're the man. You're the one that sinned. You're the one that stole the one little you lamb of your neighbor. You're a rich guy with whole hair and anything you wanted, you could have asked of God. You've given great occasion for the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme his name, David. Joseph caught himself and says, how could I do this great evil against God? I like that the holy spirits gives us these example of men who succeed and fail, like you and I. I like when I read in Hebrews 11, the holy spirit's edited out all their failures. I like how the Holy Spirit chronicles by faith by faith by faith. Because when we fall, the Lord picks us back up and we continue to walk by faith. I can't trust in myself. I can't trust that I'm good enough and gonna get there by being pure enough and perfect enough. I'm trusting that he that has begun a good work in me that he's gonna complete it, that he's gonna finish it. I feel weak. I feel like a failure. I feel like, man, if this is left up to me to finish it, I'm we're not gonna get there, Cath. We need the Lord's help. But them that are without, verse 13, God judges. Therefore, away from among yourselves that wicked person. So we can't avoid contact with the world, but we can avoid contamination. Did you hear that? We cannot avoid contact with the world. You're at you're at the shipyard, you're at Bangor Keyboard, you work for Microsoft, wherever you work, you're gonna be in contact with pollution, with corruption, foul words, foul lies, foul whatever. You're gonna be in contact with the world. But we can avoid contamination. How do we do that? When you come home, take a shower. Take a shower. Wipe that filth off of your off of you. Wash your mind. Get into God's word. Allow God's word to wash your heart and mind. You're walking through the city, your feet are dirty, you come into the house, the slave comes over, brings a basin of water and washes your feet because you've been defiled. You've already been washed, Peter, washed in the blood, but as you walk through this life, you get defiled. Their dirt gets on you. Wash the dirt out of your mind. Wash the dirt out of your home. Wash the dirt out of the car. Whatever influence is coming in, the leaven, how it's trying to gain a foothold to permeate your whole being. Cut it out. Get rid of it. Take some ivermectin. I don't know. But get into the word of God. Permeate your heart and mind, your children, heart and mind with the word of God. The word of God will wipe the filth away. Your mind will be transformed to metamorphosis. You won't think like a worldling. But if you're left home each day and you're watching the soap operas and eating your bonbons, And doctor this is on there and Oz and blah blah blah blah blah. You're getting the wisdom of Oprah. You're you're getting a bunch of garbage. So you stay with the word. If you're if you're a husband, if you're a man, get your family to church, a bible teaching church. That's your greatest insurance you have that your marriage will have staying power. Anybody can get married, but you're gonna stay married? How long are gonna be married? What kind of sickness will permeate your marriage and cause your marriage to fall apart? What kind of worldliness will permeate your wife's mind, your husband's mind, and destroy your marriage? How do you stay on point? Husbands, love your wives with a washing of God's word. Wash her mind with God's word. Help her to regain perspective. Don't allow the world to dominate and take over in our thought processes because you saw saw a thought, you're gonna reap an action. You saw an action, you reap a habit. Saw a habit, you reap a character, a destiny. Proverbs twenty seven six, faithful are the wounds of a friend, the kiss of an enemy are deceitful. Judas betrayest out the son of man with a kiss. Pence, stabbed me in the back. Oh, I got pants, you know. Now he wants to distance himself, the Republican Party away from Trump. He's no better. He's worse. We needed some help. We needed some help when they stole the election. We all knew it was stolen. They wanted us to know it was stolen. They wanted to teach us helplessness. You're helpless. There's nobody here to help you. Learned helplessness. Don't let any of them back in. The result, the man in question repented and was restored to fellowship. In second Corinthians chapter two verse seven, Paul says, forgive him. I beseech you that he he would confirm your love toward him. So he's come back in repentance. Restore him. Bring him back in. Bring him to the Agape Feast. Feed them. Clothe them. Help them. Help them get a job. Lest Satan should get an advantage of us for we're not ignorant of his devices. That word devices means strategies. So don't allow Satan to get in there and make all of you self righteous pharisees. Like you're better. Soon as he comes to the place of repentance and confession, you restore him. If any man be overtaken of fault, you are spiritual restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, lest you also be tempted. You can sterilize the church by being self righteous and leading toward the letter of the law. Remember God's grace. Remember his mercies are new every morning. Let it be a loving church where people can fail and be restored, where they can grow and mature as Christians. Do not kill your wounded. No man left behind. Pray for him. Intercede. But don't enable. Allow Satan to do his his his chastening, but when they come to repentance, restore him. Get him going again. How often should I, know, forgive my brother 70 times? Well, that's that's admirable, Peter. 70 times. You're a big dude, man. How about 70 times 70, Peter? How about 490? How about how about unlimited, Peter? Keep forgiving one another because none of us have arrived. I like a distinction I see in Luke 17 though, somebody that wrongs you. If he repent, forgive him. So in Matthew 18, I'm gonna forgive him from my heart because I'm not ignorant of the enemy's devices. I don't want any area of bitterness to well up in my heart because that's what the devil want me. The devil want me to start to hate my daughter's boyfriends and plot to kill them. So I've got to pray for them and their family that my heart remains soft. I got to pray that they'll get saved because God loves them and my heart remains soft. Let Satan get an advantage of me and I go down to New Orleans and get thrown in jail because I tried to do it in the arm of the flesh. It's called kidnapping. It's called murder. Oh, but you guys are so tough. You'd go down there and get them. Right? Yeah. I know. People talk. They just talk. We're not ignorant of the enemy's devices, his strategies. So we in the church don't want that pride, we don't want that self righteousness, we don't want that that bitterness and anger to fester in there, the gossip that destroys. We wanna intercede and pray for the restoration of people who are being taken captive by the wicked one. They're soldiers on the battlefield of life. That's how I look at my daughter. She's a casualty in this war that Kathy and I've been in. This battle we've been in in serving the Lord, our children in many cases are casualties in that in that battle. And we've gotta be there and be wise enough to to rescue and to model and to pray and to love unconditionally and allow their actions to bring correction into their lives that the Lord would restore them one day to sweet intimate fellowship with Jesus. Brethren, if any man be overtaken in a fall, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, lest you also be tempted. Discipline in love. In Hebrews twelve five, my son despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him. For whom the Lord loveth, he chastens and scourges every son whom he receives. Why? Verse 12, that we might be partakers of his holiness. The Lord loves us enough to spank us as his children, to correct us, to restore us. If we're not his, you don't spank anybody else's kids. If you get away with it, if you're the dog back to the vomit, the sow to the wallowing in the mire, you're none of his. He'll allow you to continue, but because he loves you, he'll discipline you in love. Whom the Lord loves, he chases. He spanks that he might restore, that he might that he might cause you to enter into a greater potential than you even realize. He sees the potential, but he wants you to realize that potential in Christ. Quit shooting yourself in the foot through disobedience. The goodness of God, the kindness of God leads us to repentance. It's his goodness, it's his love that brings me back. Are you being disciplined in love? Is God protecting you from yourself. You see, it's not that guy or that gal or that person that mistreated you or victimized you. Your greatest enemy is yourself. It's your selfishness. The way you secretly do things and you don't think anybody sees. Moses looked to the left, he looked to the right, he stabbed the Egyptian, he killed him. But he, unlike Joseph, he didn't look up. And then he's able to say, your sin will surely find you out. I don't want my sin to find me out. I don't wanna reap what I've sown. I wanna sow to the spirit that I not fulfill the lust of the flesh. I want God's mercies to be new each morning. I wanna obey the Lord, walk in fellowship with him. I don't wanna allow any area of my life to be an avenue of corruption that over a period of time leads to committed adultery. So many pastors have fallen from adultery. So many Christians have fallen after years of marriage, years of faithfulness because they allowed a little area of their life to be corrupted. And they didn't nip it in the bud. They didn't take it serious enough. And then the devil with the blue dress comes along. Man, you're like, you have no power to resist because you're so in the flesh. You need the holy spirit. You're thinking about when you used to go to church, when you used to read the word, when you used to pray. It's all past tense. And unsuspecting ever so, you don't even perceive it imperceptibly, you're backsliding and you don't even know it. And then Nathan, prophet, and God's love, he sends Nathan, prophet, to restore you, and he says, Rick, you're the man. You're the man that's given great occasion of the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme God's name. Don't let that be said of you or of me. We've come too far. We've come too far to fall now. Let's finish our course. Let's finish the fight. And Paul says, I finished my course. I fought the good fight. There's now laid up for me a crown of righteousness, and not to me only, but to all them who love his appearing. Are you looking for the soon return of Jesus? That'll be a purifying influence in your life if you are. Jesus is coming. I need to be ready. I need to be watching. I need to be telling people. Let's pray. Father, thank you, Lord, that your discipline is in love. You discipline because you love us. Lord, help us not to lower your standards. You said to be holy, to be perfect. Lord, we rest in our righteousness, that's of you, Lord. But as we live the Christian life, Lord, we know there's no excuse for sinning. That Lord you give us the power to not practice sin, to not continue in sin. Your grace, your mercies are new that we you draw us to that place of repentance, a godly sorrow that leads to repentance, Lord. The glorious blessing of being restored to fellowship, to enjoying you, to enjoy fellowship with other like minded believers. Thank you that as we go into the world and it hurts, it's painful, people trying to dominate and hurt and make our our lives miserable. But Lord, as we drive away, as we get home, Lord, our homes become a sanctuary when you fill our hearts and lives, when we focus to worship upon you. As you wash and cleanse us afresh, strengthen us and get us ready to go back in the world the next day. And Lord, you want us to reach the lost. You wanna reach those who are hurting, those that are bound by the wicked one, taken captive by the devil. You came to set the captives free, Lord. And he who the son sets free is free indeed. This morning, if there's anybody here, you're in the bondage of sin. You're addicted to sin. It's got a hold of you because you gave it an inroad. I'm talking to Christians right now. You gave it an inroad. You allow this area of your life for the devil to continually bring corruption. Ask God for help. Ask God to change your heart, to make it new. Ask God to bring a Holy Ghost conviction, not a condemnation, but conviction in your heart, an admission in your heart that this is wrong. If you confess your sin, he's faithful and just to forgive you of your sin and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Confess your sin in your heart under the Lord, and tell the Lord, Lord, I can't change myself. I can't do it. I can't do it, Lord. I need you. And the Lord will remind you that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Rely upon him. Rely completely upon him, and sin shall not have dominion over you. God will break that habit. God will break that cycle. God will give you avenues of edification to build you up, to strengthen you, not tear you down, not pull you down, but to build you up. But you gotta be willing. You gotta be transformed. You gotta be humble enough. So father, we just pray any area of corruption in our lives that you would give us the victory, that you would be our victory, that we would walk not just in our our standing of being perfect already, but Lord, the living out of our Christian life, we want the victory, Lord. We wanna overcome sin in our life. We ask for your help. Lord, we pray as you help us, we can help others who are struggling, that in love we could go and bring discipline, confrontation, and restoration, Lord. If you hear this morning, you're not a believer, and you're a slave to sin, Jesus is the great emancipator. He came to set the captives free. You just cry out to him, God, be merciful to me, a sinner. Lord, deliver me. And God will hear that cry of repentance, and the Lord will come in and transform and make you new. The Bible describes it as being born again. The old things are passed away, and all things are become new. Anyone here this morning, just lift your hand up. We wanna pray with you. We wanna watch you overcome the temptation of the alcohol, the drugs, the porn, the adultery, the self pity, the victimization. We want you to experience being that of more than a conqueror through him that loved us. Because of the cross, he's crucified, he's buried, he raised himself from the dead, he's seated at the right hand of his father and he's coming again. He's your victory. Anyone here this morning, just lift your hand up. We wanna pray with you. Father, thank you. We thank you for this morning. We pray that you bless as we partake of communion. And Lord, our hearts do reach out and cry out for the peace of Jerusalem. We pray, Lord, that the truth would be made known, and we thank you, Lord, that in the midst of Iran is the fastest growing church in the world today. Lord, we pray for the believers there in Iran, what they must be thinking, Lord. And we pray all over the Mideast that all that the devil seeks to destroy Israel and to destroy Christians, Lord, we pray that you're raising up a standard in these Islamic nations, that people are getting saved. They're seeing through the fallacy, the emptiness of Islam. But Lord, we know you love the Iranians. We know that you love Iraqis, Egyptians. You love these people, Lord. And as the world tries to get us to demonize one group and be favorable toward another, Lord, I pray that we'd see through that. And God, pray that you'd save now, Lord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
