Jeremiah 41
Pastor Rick Beaudry expounds Jeremiah 41 by recounting Ishmael’s treachery against Gedaliah and warning about naivete that lets deceit and violence fester. He traces the Ishmael and Isaac typology from Genesis through Paul in Galatians to show Ishmael as a type of the flesh and urges mortifying the flesh while feeding the spirit so faith can prevail. The message presses the church to practice sober discernment, exercise loving but firm discipline toward corrosive members, and teach the Word so we are not easily deceived. Drawing on biblical examples and contemporary observations, he contrasts fear and faith and calls us to be bold in righteousness while bearing the fruit of love.
