Jeremiah 35
Pastor Rick Beaudry walks us through Jeremiah 35, using the Recabites and Jonadab’s three hundred year command to abstain from wine and live as nomadic tent dwellers to illustrate steadfast obedience. He contrasts their generational faithfulness with Judah’s persistent compromise, drawing practical applications about parental authority, saying no to cultural pressures, and the spiritual cost of accommodating the world. Bringing in 1 Samuel 15 and Saul’s failed obedience, he warns that religious activity cannot substitute for true submission to God and urges personal repentance. The study opens with a prayer for Sally and closes with a plea that we love Jesus, stand faithful, and seek national and personal repentance as we await his return.
