Please stand with me as we read God's holy word together. Next week, we're gonna be in Philippians chapter one, and, that's gonna be exciting getting into the book of Philippians. And so one other thing before we go that I need to mention is expository teaching, the way that we handle God's word, is extremely rare today. They've been teaching the pastors in the church growth movement for over twenty five years that the more the bible you teach, the smaller your church will be. And also, they've phrased they've keyed a phrase, verse by verse teaching is death to a church. So what happens is we do topical sermons in America today, and these topics have to relate with therapy therapy, making people feel good, trying to keep people away from the reality of the truth of God's word. So when we teach God's word, we go through, we cover every topic. Every topic known to man is here in this book. Peter says that we have everything we need for life and godliness. And so next week, we're going into the book of Philippians. Now, on a on something I've been, examining, been here thirty one years, one of the things I cherish that I greatly greatly cherish that means a whole lot to me is that God has made me an expositor. And that's very, very rare to, be entrusted with the word of God and to practice sound hermeneutics of observation, interpretation, application, inductive bible study. So our messages come right out of the bible, and we prove it grammatically, contextually, and by comparing scripture with scripture. We let the scripture, be the teacher. Now, let me give you an example. Big debate Rob was bringing to my attention about women pastors, women in the pulpit. And they're trying to say it was a cultural thing that Paul said to Timothy, you know, that it forbid women to teach you to serve authority over men, and then they try to go in the area of prophecy. Philip's daughters were prophetesses, evangelists, and they prophesied. I got no problem with that. Bible has no problem with that. It's real simple to refute what they're saying. Really super simple. You go into first Timothy chapter three, you go to Titus one, and what's it say the qualifications for an elder are? An elder, if we define that word, can be used as an overseer, can be used as a bishop, and then the Latin, the elder is a pastor. What's the function of a pastor? To equip the saints for the work of the ministry. Right? How does a pastor equip? By teaching God's word. So the elders are raised up by God to meet the spiritual needs of the people, and the deacons can be in the feminine form, a deaconess to help women helping with the the servant aspects. If we have a baptism behind me, there'd be deaconesses to help the ladies get out of the pool and put a put a towel around them, that sort of thing. So Stephen and Philip were deaconesses, but the elders of the church, Peter and James and John, they gave themselves the word of God and prayer. And here's the key. In first Timothy three, in Titus one, it says, an elder should be the husband of one wife. Do you know what a husband is? It's masculine. In an age of confusion about what's masculine, what's feminine, it's so simple. But you don't hear them arguing from those passages. They like to go over and try and twist things culturally. Now, in a time of apostasy, where the church has fallen away from the word of God, if the men wimp out in teaching the bible as expositors, then God raise up women to teach. Especially the children, which there's no hindrance of the children, the young adults. You know, put a woman in the pulpit. If the men wimp out teaching God's word, put a woman in the pulpit. Let her be a Deborah, and let her go for it because, you know, it's it's the it's the Sabbath wasn't made for man. You know, man wasn't made for the Sabbath, the Sabbath was made for man, a time of rest. And so the order, the ideal is that men be leaders, but in the time of judges, when the men wouldn't be leaders, then God raised up Deborah. Right? And jail took a tent stake and put it in Senecribs. Not Senecrib, but put it through the temples of the of the king. So so I love fiery, competent. It's not that they're not competent, but I love fiery, bold, like in Iran today. Who are leading the revival in Iran? It's women. Women are leading. And, they're going, they're not gonna back down, you know. They don't they want their children to be raised in a Christian culture, you know, in a Christian world. And so they're, going forth and and the men will catch on eventually, but, we don't ever wanna quench the fire that women have. But, that fire in a wife, that fire in the women, hopefully, men will get a clue and step up to the plate and be as zealous and as diligent and being a student of God's word in that they are in everything out every other endeavor that they that they come upon. So men, we need more men to lead within the home, to be the priest within the home and to t swear. And you men need to determine where you're gonna go to church. And you need to pick a church that's a bible teaching church. Why would why wouldn't you want that insurance on your marriage and your children? Do you think these counselors and this therapy messages are gonna give you this spiritual fruit you need to keep your marriage strong and to keep your kids and family out of the wickedness of this world? Ain't gonna happen. It's not gonna happen. We need the word of God, the full counsel of God. Alright. You guys stood there a long time for that. Ephesians six twenty one through 24. Alright. Here we go. But that he also may know my affairs and how I do. Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shall make known to you all things, whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose that you might know our affairs and that he might comfort your hearts. Peace be to the brethren in love and faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all them that love our lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen. Father, we thank you for your holy word. And lord, as we've come to worship you, we've also come to sit at your feet and lord, for you to be our teacher. So please open the scriptures, help us to, as we study, Lord, to, receive, give us ears to hear, to those that can hear as you said to the churches in the book of Revelation, Lord. And, he that has an ear to hear, let him hear what the spirit is saying. And Lord, let us walk away from here being doers of your word and not hearers only. To apply these truths to our life, to be men and women who build their homes and their lives upon the rock, not on the sand. Help us, Lord, evermore to mature and to grow and to be able to weather the storms that we're entering into in this world in which we're living, Lord. Help us to be at peace, Lord, in the midst of that storm. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Would you please be seated? What does it mean to love someone? How can we describe it? What does it look like? How does it feel? How long does love last? What's the shelf life of love? My mom, you know, married seven times. The shelf life of her love for whatever wasn't very long. And, what's the shelf life of your marriage? How many times you've heard, we got married too young and we just fallen out of love now, you know? What's the shelf life of your love for Jesus? How long are gonna love him? In Song of Solomon eight verse seven, many waters cannot quench love neither can the floods drown it. If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be condemned. So real love cannot be bought. It can't be quenched. It can never it never ends. Is your love real? Do you know if your love's real? Has your love been tested? That's how we know if our love is real. When your marriage is tested, when your life is tested, that's how we know. When you go through trials, many people say, I didn't sign up for this. This isn't the Christianity I signed up for. I signed up for a Christianity that would admit me, allow me into the Bless Me Club, and I'm not being blessed right now. I just lost my job. I've lost my health. I've lost my spouse. My kids don't like me. This isn't the Christianity I signed up for. And your love and your devotion, your excitement, the worship, and all that that you once had for the Lord, you've left your first love. You're drifting. You're falling away. And if truly you are a believer, you're gonna be miserable out there until you come back to Jesus because you belong to him. You're blood bought. So you can you can do a Jonah, and you can try and go your own way, but the Lord's got a fish ready for you. And he's gonna discipline you and chasten you if you're a Hebrews 12, true child of God, whom he loves, he chastens, and he scourges every son or daughter because he loves us. He brings us to be corrected just as the Lord sent Nathan to let David know that you're gonna be corrected, David, because I love you. I'm gonna bring you back to that place of repentance even though your love has grown cold. I'm gonna bring you back to that place where I can restore the joy of your salvation, David. And so, do you love him sincerely? Do you love do you love your wife? Do you love your husband, your children, your dog? We can see that no one can truly love a cat. We understand that. But you're supposed to be you cat lovers, we we acknowledge this. Do you really love God? When a cat runs away, nobody puts a sign up and looks for the cat, do they? Nobody loves a cat, do they? Nobody can. I mean, there any cats in heavens? We know dogs go to heaven, but all dogs go to heaven. But, we're not sure about cats. So will your love for God grow or grow cold? I'm dividing the church right now. Right? Some of you men are cat lovers, you know. I don't understand that, but alright. So, oh, boy. How am I gonna get out of that mess? Right? In Matthew twenty four twelve, it says, because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold. But he that endure to the end, the same shall be saved out of the tribulation period. And so during the tribulation period, many people, are under that pressure. The pressure can even reveal your heart from the ones the heart the mouth speaks, and we don't know what Christians are like until they're put like a tea bag into hot water. And then the true you begins to come out. It can be bitterness and be anger and be rebellion, and so your love can grow cold during the time of trial. When we saw Job tempted, when the devil was banking on the fact that Job would doesn't love God for who he is. He loves God because all the stuff he has. But when that stuff is taken away, the devil contended that Job would curse God to his face. Job was being tested, and it was love that was being tested. And Job sinned not with his lips, did he? He said, naked came I into the world, naked I'm gonna go. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. His response was worship. Then Satan said, well, let's take it a bit further, and many of you have experienced this. Let's give them sickness. Let's take away their health. If we take away their health, if you if you make Job sick, skin for skin, all that a man has will he give for his life. Satan is a great psychiatrist, psychologist. He understands human behavior, and he understands that many, many, many people follow God for what they can get. And when they don't get what they want, then their real personality comes out. And with Job, the devil was allowed to give him boils from the crown of his head to his feet, and he continued to worship God. He maintained his integrity, and his wife came up to him. Satan interestingly took his children, took his wealth, took all of his cattle, took everything, and then took his hell, but left his wife. And, you gotta wonder. You gotta wonder why the wicked one, if he's trying to break a man, why would he leave his wife? Well, we get a little glimpse. She said, you still maintain your integrity. Why don't you curse God and die? Who's that speaking through her? Is that God speaking through her? Is that the devil speaking through her? And he said, you speak as one of the foolish women speak. Shall we not receive good at the hand of the Lord and not of evil? Now that's a joke like the cat joke. Okay? So lighten up. Alright? And I'm just kidding. But, obviously, the Job's wife, her heart was breaking too, with the loss of the children. And Job set an example of of, though he slay me, I will I trust in him. He knows the way that I take, and when he's tried me, I'm gonna come forth as gold. I know that my redeemer lives, and he shall stand. Those are the exultant, the conquering spirit of a person that loves God for who he is. A person who has an eternal perspective that this light affliction is but for a moment. It's working a far more eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal. So you have an eternal perspective that, he loves you with an everlasting love, and with loving kindness has he drawn you, and nobody's gonna ever be able to pluck you out of his hands. So circumstantially, the circumstance and things we go through should not quench our love for God, nor our love for our spouse or for our children. Many a guy, many a gal, they dry up. They're frustrated. They don't like God's plan for their life. So they're out of there. They're gonna start their own plan. They're gonna do their own thing. They're gonna go their own way. And in some cases, it may be indicative of a person that never really loved God. They went out from us because they weren't of us. If they'd have been of us, they'd have continued with us. Ross Perot, who was once running for president, big computer guy and billionaire dude, and, he was gonna win, you know, he was gonna win. And, but the story goes on a different topic, that he had a guy that worked for him that went through a divorce, that committed adultery and went through a divorce. And Ross Perot is quoted as saying, if your wife can't trust you, how can I? Do you love God? Can he trust you? Can your spouse trust you? Can your children trust you? We spout off. We say, I love. I love cheeseburgers. Do you love your wife like a cheeseburger? How do you love your wife? Enough to like Christ to lay down your life for her? Why are so many women having to take the role of leadership in the home and wanting to be senior pastors and bible teachers? Because men have failed in their leadership, in their loving their wife till they die. Things get tough, they bail, they take off. So the women have to raise the kids, get a career, continue in their career. And when they took vows of marriage, they were vows of marriage till death do us part. Is that the kind of love you have for God? Marriage simply depicts our relationship with God. We're the bride of Christ. What's the world see when they look at the church and the church is cheating on every each other. Having affairs, adultery, fornication, all of it's in the church. No counselor, no therapy, no psychiatry, none of that's gonna solve the problem. It's a vertical problem in your walking relationship with the Lord. You've left your first love. You seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, all these other things be added unto you. I'm amazed that Kathy still loves me. It's gotta be a God thing. The only way Kathy still love me is God put love in her heart, let me tell you. Because I'm I'm no there's no woman in here that would wanna be married to me, and they're always praying, Lord help Kathy. You know, help Kathy. And I get it. But she is the one the Lord gave to me, and her love is a real love, a sincere, genuine love, tested over and over and over again. Her love toward me and her family has been tested. It's a love that endures to the end. It's an everlasting love. And that's why I've asked her, honey, will you, marry me in the millennium? Rick, no. That contract ends at death. Sorry, honey. Once is enough. Wouldn't it be nice if Jesus would officiate and we'd get married in Jerusalem? No, Rick. That contract stops at death. Okay, honey. So Paul concludes his letter to the Ephesian church with an emphasis upon love in three areas. Number one, notice the messenger of love. Verse 21. Doesn't that sound good? The messenger of love. But that ye also may know my affairs and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shall make known to you all all things. Verse 22, whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose that you might know our affairs and that you might that he might comfort your hearts. So Tychicus was an Asian man headed to an Asian city in Asia Minor, which is the church of Ephesus that the apostle Paul spent three years planting that church there. Kathy and I had the privilege years ago to attend the seven churches, the book of Revelation, Asia Minor, present day Turkey, and this is one of the cities that we're able to go in, and there's, like, less than 1% Christians there. You know, you see the ruins of these seven churches that were once there, vibrant, but, just just in ruins now. And so an Asian city, an Asian guy delivering, and, and he helped Paul deliver the love offering to Jerusalem. He also delivered the letter to the church at Colossae. His mission, to the Ephesians was threefold, three things for you note takers that, Tychicus was to do. Number one, he was to deliver the letter. Number two, he was to provide an update of how the apostle Paul was doing. And number three, he was to provide comfort. Notice he's described as a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shall make known to you all things. So Tychicus could be trusted with the message of Paul's love and of God's love. Can you be trusted with the message of God's love? That's a high calling. That's a high calling for God to entrust to human beings the gospel, his love for humanity. How are we resent representing God? Are people getting a vivid picture, a clear, sincere, uncorrupted picture of God's love in the lives that we live, in the way that we communicate God's love towards others? In the tribulation period, an angel is gonna fly over with the everlasting gospel. God's going to anoint 12,000, 144,000 from the 12 tribes of Jews. Excuse me. Who are gonna evangelize. There's gonna be innumerable number of people beneath the throne of God in Revelation six and seven who refuse to take the mark of the beast. Their life, like I said, is no gray. It's black or white. You either love Jesus or you don't. You're either gathering with him or you're scattering abroad. You're either a saint or you're an aide. You either take the mark or you don't. You're either going to heaven or you're going to hell. There's no in betweeners. There's no purgatory. There's no praying them out. There's no second chance. It's appointed on all men once to die and then the judgment. Life's simple. Very simple. You love the devil or you love Jesus? Real simple. It's not complicated except for the liars. They make it complicated because the devil's the author of confusion. The devil comes along and says, hath God said to Eve to beguile her, to seduce her? You won't die. And then what does the antichrist and Lucifer, the devil, the dragon do in the tribulation period? Because the people love not the truth, in second Thessalonians two verse 10. Because they don't love the truth, God gives them over to a strong delusion that they would believe the lie. And what is the lie? You're hear hearing Elon Musk and Jared Kushner and others talk about the lie, and that lie is the lie of the garden. You won't die. We've got med beds. You can lay in the med beds and heal all diseases. You can you can be lame. You have a a leg that doesn't work, and we can chip you. We can brain chip you. We can get your leg to work. We can we can restore your hearing. We can store your eyesight all through technology. Lying signs and wonders. And Jared Kushner said, his generation's not gonna die. That's the lie from the garden. That's the lie the wicked one says. Can God entrust to you the truth or are you gonna compromise and give in to the lies? The lies of our culture. It's so bizarre. In 2015, marriage was redefined. Marriage. For over five thousand years, the whole world knew what marriage was. One man, one woman for one lifetime. And we've got Barack Hussein Obama that says, when we voted about marriage, we got it wrong, that love wins. According to Rob Bell, love wins. We're gonna make marriage be whatever we you want it to be. We've come a long way, baby. And the White House is lit up in rainbow colors and love wins. They misconstrue what love is. They they corrupt the word love. They pervert the word love to epitomize rebellion against God. That's what that is. And the church just forgot about it and moved on. Well, because we don't deal with things, now we're gonna have to deal with pedophilia. Who's gonna be strong enough to stand up against pedophilia? I saw a good picture of a guy with a mega hat standing in front of a bathroom, and there was one of the pride guys wanting to get into that bathroom. And this father, you have to go through me. My daughter's in that bathroom. I like that. I like that a lot. Would you be willing to go to jail for that? You would go to jail. Would you be willing? I'd be willing in a heartbeat. And I hope it would spark in Canada, the men of Canada to not tolerate people going to jail for simply having a bible, reading a bible in a park like pastor Arthur Pawlowski, or a woman praying in front of an abortion clinic, but praying silently. Her lips aren't moving. And they come up to her, what are you doing? They don't know what she's doing. They can't read. They're not omniscient. They can't read your mind. They need technology. They need cameras and microphones to track and trace you. The devil's a counterfeit. You've gotta open your mouth and say, well, you know, I was praying. Oh, you're arrested. You're not allowed to pray here. Crazy. Crazy laws being passed. Crazy affront to Christianity. But if you love Jesus, if you love him more than your own life, then you see in Revelation 12, they overcame the devil by the word of their testimony. The blood of the lamb, the word of their testimony, and they love not their lives unto death. It was nonnegotiable. When it come when it comes to God and when it comes to who he is, you love him more than anything else. You love his honor. You you love you love him as God of creation. When you hear somebody lying saying the earth is flat, you try to just diffuse it like, that's not an argument I wanna deal with. Keep that out of the church. Would you keep that out of the church? But no, they wanna bring that in the church. Now I gotta deal with it. Why do I gotta deal with it? Because God's honor. Because he's a God of creation. And I love him more than I love keeping people happy about flat earth. Well, you're pretty mean about it. Yeah. It may come across mean, but no, it's really love. I love God more than I love you. I'm not gonna try and appease you. I'm not gonna try and compromise and act like it means nothing. It does mean a lot. You get off kilter. You get off you get off a little bit in the word of God, you're gonna you're gonna get way off. And same's true with marriage. I'm not gonna compromise and give in to a fallacy that marriage is whatever you wanna make it up. I'm not gonna give in to homosexuality as a as a gene that people have, and and and then what was trying to come in a couple years ago was celibate homosexuality. That I'm a homosexual teaching the kids, but I'm a celibate homosexual. And somehow that's supposed to be acceptable? No. I I gotta take you through the scriptures. I gotta take you to first Corinthians six, and such were some of you. You were that way. And and I'm not gonna pick on you. I'm gonna say the the the the murderers and the liars and the covetous are in that same first Corinthians six list. Such were some of you. But God washed you, sanctified you, justified you. You're not that person anymore. You're not in the church, still the same person. No. If any man be in Christ, you're a new creation. The old things are passed away. All things are become new. You're born again, born of the spirit, born from above. No such thing as born again murderers, born again practicing lesbians, born again practicing adulterers, born again practicing liars. I'm an equal opportunity condemner. Okay? All have sinned and come sure of the glory of God. There's none righteous, no, not one. We're all in that list somewhere. So don't get your little feelings hurt. It's not I'm unloving. I'm very loving. I love God more than I love the lies that people are believing, and I love you more than the people that are influencing you, leading you to hell. I love you enough to tell you the truth. Favour of the wounds of a friend, the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. I won't go along to get along. I won't remove the word sin or repentance or hell from my messages. When I come to him in the scripture, we're gonna talk about it because Jesus spoke more about hell than he did heaven. And I'm not afraid of you being uncomfortable about the cross and the authority of God's word and the cross and the holy spirit bring conviction of sin, not condemnation. I use that word loosely. I'm not condemning. I'm condemning the sin, but not you. I'm exhorting you to come to repentance. I'm exhorting you to change your mind about truth and error. And for that change of mind to affect your will, that a godly sorrow would lead to repentance. Lest you have a false sense of security going to church each week, thinking you're going to heaven, and one day hear the Lord say, away from me, I never knew you. And your blood would be on my hands because I didn't have the guts to be hated. All I'm concerned about is being liked, nickels and noses. Write the checks because we're gonna do missional good deeds. People going to hell. You're making a business out of it. Church Incorporated. You don't care about their souls. It's just a business. And Tychicus, he's a beloved brother, and he's gonna bring the truth no matter what the church of Ephesus thinks of him. His love was sincere. Can God trust me? Can he trust you? And first John two eleven says, he that hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness and knoweth not where to go because that darkness has blinded his eyes and so unable to deliver a message of love, the blind leading the blind. In first John four twenty, if a man say, and I love how John say, because everybody says, bunch of talkers. They profess that they know God, but in works, they deny him. Lot of good talkers. Show me. Show me your walk. Show me your love. Quit talking. It's time to do. If a man say I love God and hates his brother, he's a liar. For he that loveth not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? Fake, phony, liar, insincere love. Jesus would call them hypocrites, the religious pharisees. Hypocrites, actors, actors on a stage. Paul concludes his letter to the Ephesian church with a emphasis upon love. You note takers, number one, the messenger of love. Number two, the message of love. Verse 23, peace be to the brethren and love with faith from God, the father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a message of love. God's message of love is a message of peace, of reconciliation, not conflict. God offers peace to the objects of his love through faith in his own son. Now, we're gonna review the book of Ephesians. In Ephesians one verse two, peace from God, our father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. In Ephesians two verse 14, for he is our peace, who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition between us. Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained ordinances for to making himself of twain, one new man, so making peace. How did we hear? Chapter two verse 17, he came and preached peace. How do we walk? Chapter four verse three, endeavoring to keep the unity of the spirit and the bond of peace. What are we to wear? Flip flops. Ephesians six fifteen, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. God's message of peace, of love, of faith. Ephesians one verse four, he chose us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Verse chapter two verse four, his love is great. Chapter three verse 17, rooted and grounded in love. Chapter three verse 19, to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. Ephesians four verse two, forbear one another in love. Ephesians four verse 15, speak the truth in love. Ephesians four verse 16, body to edify itself in love. Ephesians five verse two, to walk in love. Look how fast Vicky is trying to write. Boom boom boom boom You can get the tape. You can get the tape. Ephesians five verse 25, husbands love their wives as Christ loved the church. Verse 28, as their bodies. How are husbands to love their wives? As Christ loved the church, as their bodies. Boy, we cherish our bodies, don't we? As himself. The message of peace and love and faith now. Now we come to faith. Ephesians two eight nine, for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves. It's a gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast. Chapter three verse 12, we have access by faith. Chapter three verse 17, Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. That's the message of love, of peace, of faith, of fellowship with the true living God. And Tychicus is delivering this letter and it's a letter of love, of sincere love from God the father through his son, anointed by the Holy Spirit. In chapter one, you remember we talked about there's a one sentence there in chapter one. One paragraph or actually a sentence, and we talked about predestined by the father, purchased by the son, and then thirdly, the triunity of the Godhead. We are preserved by the Holy Spirit up to verse 14. And so you're predestined by the father. He predestined you. Jesus said, you didn't choose me, but I chose you and ordained that you bring forth fruit and your fruit will remain that whatsoever you ask the father in my name, he may give it to you. And you're purchased by the son. It's his precious blood that's spent, that's paid to redeem you and I. And then the holy spirit comes along, the holy spirit marks us. The holy spirit brings us the the engagement ring. We're engaged to Jesus. We're sealed the earnest down payment with the holy spirit. You remember that way back in chapter one? And then we go into Revelation five, and who's worthy to open the scroll and loose the seal? Nobody's worthy. John's crying. The lion of the tribe of Judah, he's prevailed. Jesus has the title deed to the earth. He's redeemed you and I. The little g god of this world, the serpent, he doesn't have authority over you anymore. The first Adam failed. The last Adam, Jesus has succeeded, and he's purchased. He's the creator, but he's also purchased you and I with his blood. And one day, he's coming to take possession of you and I. And until that day, he's put an earnest down payment to mark you out, the devil, everyone should know in the spiritual realm that you belong to Jesus. And Paul would say, you're blood bought. You've been bought with the blood. So you pastors, you elders, you overseers, when I leave Ephesus here in Acts 20, you take heed over the flock of God which he has purchased with his own blood. I'm innocent according to Ezekiel three or Ezekiel 33. I'm innocent of the blood of each and every person because of the space of thirty one years here. I've been given the full counsel of God, night and day with tears, Paul said. So that released him from responsibility. The ball is in their court. They've heard the word of God from Genesis to Revelation. It's up to them what they're gonna do with it. Held nothing back. The full council of God. Three years, the apostle Paul there planting this church, teaching the word, and what a blessing that is as he's sending a letter now to this church. So Paul concludes this letter to the Ephesian church with an emphasis upon love. The messenger of love, the message of love, and thirdly and finally for you note takers, the measure of love. Verse 24. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. There's our word, sincere love. Amen, he says, so shall it be. So grace is God's riches, an acronym, God's riches at Christ's expense, or God's unmerited favor. You have God's riches at Christ's expense. Grace. God's unmerited favor. Religion, wearing fig leaves like we saw in Genesis three, is an act of religion to cover your nakedness, to cover your sin and your guilt. Building a tower up to heaven in or excuse me, Genesis ten eleven with Nimrod is a religious effort to try and reach God with your own works for your in your own efforts. And we study, we learn as we tied in with Isaiah, that all our righteousness, all our efforts to be righteous are as filthy rags before God. That there's none righteous, no not one. That all we like sheep have gone astray, and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Why does the Lord need to say all in in Romans three twenty three, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God? And we talked about how some would say, well, some kids are born good. They're born innocent, and then later they sin. No. No. No. In Isaiah, or excuse me, Psalm 51, David cries out, you know, in sin did my mother conceive me. You know, we were shaping in iniquity. We are ademic in nature. We have a fallen ademic nature. We're body and soul. That's why we need to be born again, to be born of the spirit. We need a new nature because Adam fell, and that fallen nature has passed from Adam and Eve to Cain to Abel. Right? And right on down the line. But Jesus is born of a virgin. Doesn't take on that nature. He's the god man, fully god, fully man. We'll see this in Philippians two, the kenosis, the emptying of the free exercise of his dean, taking on the form of a man, the God man. And he loved to be described as, to identify with you and I, as the son of man. Daniel speaks of the son of man in chapter seven. Jesus, the son of man, identifying with you and I. Could've could've come as an angel. Right? But no, Hebrews one said, he didn't come as an angel. And Paul said, if an angel comes to the church of Galatia with a different gospel, let him be anathema, let him be a curse. Jesus came as the babe of Bethlehem, the son of man, the only begotten son of God. It's a message of love, isn't it? And how do we treat him? How do we treat God's only begotten son? He was despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid his were our faces from him. All of us. When the shepherds spitting, all the sheep scattered. The bewilderment of Peter and all of them, they did they just they split. They weren't there with them at crunch time. Because that's our nature. Our nature is self preservation. Save yourself. Save yourself. But after the resurrection, these guys were different. These guys had a whole new empowering of the spirit to be courageous in the face of death. They didn't fear death anymore. To be asked from the bodies to be present with the Lord. In fact, Paul said, I'm already crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life that I now live, I live by the faith of the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Dead men walking. I'm already dead. You do me a favor. You you execute me narrow. I'm gonna be with Jesus. Paul said, you know, it's more profitable for you, church of Philippi, that I remain. But for me, it'd be far more profitable. I've been beat I've been beaten so many ways with the ugly stick. It's far more profitable for me to, evade this pain and the constant pain I am, this messenger of Satan that's buffet me. It'd be far more profitable for me to be with Jesus, to get my new glorified body. But for your sakes, I'm willing to suffer. I'm willing to stay. I'm willing to go through this because God's not done with me. Not yet. And I need to fulfill my course. I need to continue to fight the good fight and to finish the race. There's now laid out for me a crown of righteousness, and not just for me, but for all those who love his appearing. Are you do you love his appearing? Are you yearning for his appearing? Are you looking for the soon return of Jesus Christ? The Lord has a crown awaiting you. A crown of life, a crown of righteousness, a crown of glory, a crown of rejoicing, an incorruptible crown that fades not away. Jesus wore a crown of thorns so he could reward you for your faithfulness with his love, that you would share his love unto an antagonistic, hateful world that hates God, whom God deeply, deeply loves. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from their sin. God is a long suffering. He's not willing that any would perish, but that all would come to repentance. God never ever ever predestined people to hell. That's not a God of love. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn. He's long suffering, willing that any would perish, but that all would come to repentance. In his foreknowledge, he knows those who will and those who won't, But it's in his heart that his son died for the sins of the whole world, but especially for those who believe that appropriate that free gift, that receive his love. It's love that draws us. It's love that keeps us. It's love that nailed Jesus to the cross of Calvary. It's my sins that put him there. But no man takes his life from him, he said. He has power to lay it down. He has power to take it again. Greater love has no man in this than a man lay down his life for his friends. And we were his enemies. We're at enmity with God when he saved us. Scarcely for a righteous man, would some dare to die, but Christ died for you and I while we were his enemies. In our old fallen nature, it's a nature in rebellion to God. That's why there's no boasting. It's by his grace. God's unmerited favor, qualified as being with those who love him sincerely. That word sincerely means genuine, permanent, an undying love, an incorruptible love, never diminished. Or another way to illustrate this, it's a love with no wax. So the illustration is in these places where they would do vases, pottery, and the artisan would, you know, roll a roll a doobie. No. Not a doobie. Roll a the wheel and get this vase, and the vase would need to go into the kiln. And when going to the kiln, many times in the kiln, the vase with air pockets and stuff would crack, little crack. Ruin ruin the whole thing. The artisan would take like Bondo, and he'd put Bondo there in that crack, you know, and color it and all that, and try to show it to the person in a very poorly lit room. Darkness. To hide the sin. To hide the the corrupted vase. Sell it for a lot of money if you can deceive them all, but you bring it out into the light, and that's what I'm trying to get through to us. Bring it out into the light. Everything that the devil's doing in darkness or in Fox News or to to to seduce and bring it out into the light. Expose it. Prove all things. Hold fast that which is good. Let it stand on its own. So you bring it out there and somebody's trying to pass this off as, look, it's my face at Mount Rushmore. Look at look at how special I am, you know? Or a big arch or a ballroom or, you know, he's the greatest ever. Bring it out into the light. Show the Epstein files. Show the amount of money they they filled into their bank account since the inauguration with insider trading. Follow the money. Because when when it happens, when the reset hits, it's gonna happen as in a moment. It's in motion, and it's gonna be too late to do anything about it. As the 83,000,000 people in Vietnam, when their bank accounts demanded a biometric ID, Their bank accounts were seized. Their bank accounts were frozen until they went and complied. They've got you. And that's where they're headed. Is that love? Is that making America great? That's what you were told. Sounds like a little wax there. Sounds like we're building a beast system. That's not freedom. What is the measure of God's love for you? The cross. When you're inclined, when you lose everything and you say, God doesn't love me. God, why? The why God question, why did he allow the if God loves me, then why? It's the cross. The answer is the cross. God proves his love at the cross in sending his son. For God so loved you that he gave Jesus to die in your place. To punish Jesus, to pour his wrath upon Jesus so that you could receive eternal life as a free gift. In spite of your wickedness, in spite of your the the accusations, in spite of the indictment, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God's eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. And God commended or demonstrated his love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. That's God's love to humanity at war with God, at enmity with God. He's a God of love. He's demonstrating. He's revealing that he's a God of love. Jesus said, he that has seen me has seen the father. You wanna know what God the father's like? Look at me, Philip. Have I been with you such a long time and you don't know me? He that has seen me has seen the father. I am the way, the truth, the life. No man comes to the father but by me. Do you get it? Do you get it, Philip? What's the character of God? What's God look like? What revelation has God made through his son? And Peter said, we handled him. We touched him. We're on the Mount Of Transfiguration. We saw him as brighter than any fuller soap could make bright his garment and all. The Shekinah glory of God. That's a great revelation. That's great proof text. That's that's fact checking right there, baby. Where eyewitness testimony in a court of law that this is who he claimed to be. Destroy this temple, in three days I'll raise it up, he said, and he did. And Peter said, but we have the more sure word of prophecy. Over 300 prophecies fulfilled at his first coming. The more sure word, greater evidence than eyewitness testimony. You and I don't have eyewitness testimony, but we can look back to the cross and we have historical testimony throughout church history for two thousand years that Jesus Christ, in fact, the babe of Bethlehem, went to the cross of Calvary. We celebrate Christmas and Easter in this country for two hundred fifty years. The bible was the first textbook in our public schools. Until the sixties, we take the bible and prayer out of the schools. An existential rebellion, sexual rebellion, revolution against God persists to this day. What's the solution? The word of God. The simplicity of God's word, training the children, the nurture and admonition of the Lord, training them up in the way they should go. In the fifties, the people in the fifties that weren't believers were more moral than Christians are today. They knew adultery was wrong because the 10 commandments were taught in the public school in the fifties. But the existentialism, the humanism, every man doing that which is right in his own eyes has muddied the waters. That's what I say. That's the gray. There's a day coming where it's gonna be black and white once again. God's love is an everlasting love. Well, God quit loving me. He he started out loving me. We had the honeymoon. Things were great, but he kinda threw me under the bus lately. What did I do wrong? Where's the sin in the camp? Achan hid it under his tent. I didn't hide anything under the tent. I'm not in rebellion to God. What'd I do wrong? What's the formula? How can I be in the bless me club? I want the prosperity gospel. I want my hair to grow back on my bald head. I want my teeth to get wider. I wanna be a couple inches taller. I'm tired of these platform shoes, you know. He made me short. He made me fat. I want I want Ozempic. I want a pill. I want something that just melts the fat off my body. I wanna smoke the herb. I wanna do it my way. I wanna die with Frank Sinatra singing, I did it my way. How's that working for you, Frank? I wanna do it God's way. What is the measure of your love? Greater love has no man than this and a man lay down his life for his friends. I wanna use a word here, the word warrior, an overused word in our culture today, or lions in response to how wimpy our culture's become. I want you to know that a warrior, a lion, is somebody that gets up at 03:30 in the morning and puts their boots on and walks out that door no matter what the weather, and goes and works a job where they're mistreated, where they're not appreciated, but they get a paycheck, and they're able to provide for their family that are still in bed asleep, awaiting to go to school, and that person does that for forty years, forty five years, however long it takes. That's the grind. That's the grind of life. The curse that's upon all humanity because of sin. And it doesn't mean that God doesn't love you, but you're demonstrating love and that you're Christ like, and you're willing to lay down your dreams, your desires, all the things that you once dreamt of, you're willing to to lay down with the simplicity and the humility of watching your best years erode and go away, of watching your body suffer, your mind suffer. And by the time you retire, you're dead within two years. If you're lucky. Right? That's very common. Very, very common. So why did you do it? Love, I did it for my family. I did it for those around me. Greater love has no man than this than a man lay down his life for his friend. That's a warrior. That's a lion. We all know that God is love and that he loves us. What we don't know is, do we truly love him? As we go through the tests, as we go through the trials, they should deepen our walking relationship with the Lord. As the dross is burned off and we know we've been purified when the metalsmiths can see the face of Jesus in that metal. When we emit the fragrance of Christ. When the Greeks would say, sir, we would see Jesus. Can people see Jesus in you? Can your children see Jesus in you? To the church of Ephesus later, Jesus said in Revelation two verse four, one thing I have against you, you've left your first love. The honeymoon's over. You left your first love. You left the priority of loving me with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, all your strength. You do a lot of good things, but one thing I have against you, you've left your first love. Why would you leave your first love? Why would you do that, church of Ephesus? In John twenty one fifteen, Simon, lovest thou me more than these? Do you love me more than the 150 something fish, Simon? Do you love me more than the disciple, Simon? Three times, you love me? Love me? Love me? Filet o? Filet o? Agape? Yeah. You know I love you, Lord. Feed my sheep. What's the job of pastor? Feed my sheep. What's the food? The word of God, not psychology, the word of God. Tend my lambs, tend these lambs. My wife's over there tending the lambs. The little ones, feed them. Once for each time that Peter denied the Lord, three times. Before the cock crows, Peter, you're gonna deny me three times. Legend has it that Peter, when he'd walk into a city later, that people would mock him by cock a doodle doing. The people never forgot his failure. But the Lord Jesus wasn't there to remind them of his failure. The Lord Jesus met Peter there at the Sea Of Galilee with the other boys that went back to fishing of his love for them. He said, children, you caught any fish? No. Well, you remember when I called you to myself? Cast that net on the other side. Well, we fished all night and caught no fish. At your word, Lord. They get a big drought of fish, can't even bring it in. And it's deja vu for Peter and the boys. It's the Lord. Children, come and dine. He's a carnivore. He's got some fish there. Broiled fish awaiting him. No soy boys, broiled fish. They come to shore and they're dining with the Lord. And then it comes down to restoration. The Lord had told Peter, Peter, I'm praying for you. Peter, I'm praying for you because Satan desires you that he might sift you as wheat. He wants to pummel you. He wants to beat you into submission, Peter. He wants you to be a compromiser. He wants you to take the easy way, not the way of the cross. But I'm praying for you, Peter. What's Jesus praying for Peter for? That your faith fail not. And when you're converted, when I come and meet you at the Sea Of Galilee and I restore you because you've already seen me resurrected, but in your dejection of yourself, your disqualification of yourself, and listening to the condemnation of the wicked one, you you're telling yourself, how could God love me now? I failed him. We all failed the Lord. Every single one of us have failed the Lord. Every single one of us, at times, have left our first love. Every single one of us. But the Lord Jesus is the one that's faithful. His love's an everlasting love, and he meets us there at the shore. He meets us there in the hospital. He meets us at the unemployment line, and he's faithful. Hallelujah. And he never stops loving us. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I'll fear no evil for thou art with me. He's there with us with the loss of a loved one. He's there with us. He's holding us. He's carrying us if necessary. He's gonna get us through these trials. In John six, notice this, John six six six. Look at that. From that time, many of his disciples who were they? Many of his disciples. What was the occasion? Feeding the 5,000. It's universal basic income. Everyone in compliance, everybody wanting to be a Christian. Oh, universal basic income. I could just game all day. I can do whatever I want. If if I had universal basic income, I'd say, you know, maybe I I wanna go fishing all day. I like fishing or be with my grandkids all day. But anyway, these guys, when Jesus told them the cost of following him to eat his flesh, to drink his blood, the intimacy of the oneness, they couldn't comprehend that. They wanted the happy meals. They wanted the toy in the happy meal. They they were they were hey. He's a meal ticket. We'll never have to work again. The curse is gone, and we can tell everybody what warriors we are. And it says they no longer walked with him. Insincere love, a shallow love. The disciples went back. These are disciples. These are learners. These are people that were a part of the gang, part of the following. The multitude of people that were following Jesus. How many were there at crunch time? How many were there when he's apprehended? At the house of Annas, and then Caiaphas, and then the Sanhedrin, and and then before Pilate, and then before Herod, and then back to Pilate. How many were there? How many of them were there trying to break him out, to rescue him? No. When the shepherd's spitting, they scattered. That's human nature. What emboldened them later? The resurrection. Transformed change, men and women. They no longer feared death. Proof of the resurrection and the love of God just flowing in their heart as they received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the liquid love that just so enveloped them. They had a smile on their face for three weeks till it ran low. And then they got together in a prayer meeting and they prayed once again that the Lord would embolden them to not give in to the threatenings in acts four of the religious leaders and all. And they determined they were gonna obey God rather than men. And their faces shone bright like Stephen's, you know, bright like that of an angel. And Jesus gave Stephen a standing ovation, didn't he? Nothing could stop these guys. They that turned the world upside down are here in this city too. What are we gonna do? Gamaliel says, you know, there's nothing you can't do with these kind of people. If it's of God, there's no solution. There's no way we can stop it if it's of God. The Chinese government can't stop it. The Iranian government can't stop it. Jesus said, upon this rock, I'll build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Why? Because these people love God. They love him sincerely, and they're being proven there's no wax. They're willing to die for Jesus. That's their witness. That's their testimony. Jesus said, you're gonna be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, to the uttermost parts of the earth. You're gonna receive power of the holy spirit. You can't be a witness without the power. Elon Musk thinks he has power. The power Elon Musk has is the power that Pilate thought he had. The power to crucify. And Jesus said, you have no power except that which has been given you from above. The power to what? To set the stage for the soon return of Jesus Christ. God's putting it into the hearts of these globalists in Revelation seventeen seventeen to set the stage according to God's will for the return of Jesus. And they imagine vain things in Psalm two. Oh, how the heathen, you know, rage and imagine vain thing, you know, against the Lord and against his anointed, trying to stop the return of Jesus. The globalists with the antichrist are gonna stop Jesus from returning. Can you imagine a greater insanity than that? You're gonna stop Jesus from returning, and he's gonna take your champion. David slew Goliath with a slingshot. He's gonna slay your your giant, your antichrist with the brightness of his coming, the sword of his mouth. You're gonna drop dead, AC. You're gonna be lying in the street dead. No burial for you. An angel's gonna grab you and the false prophet and put you in the lake of fire immediately. And the devil will be apprehended, put into the abyss where he'll be held in jail for a thousand years while Jesus rules and reigns from Jerusalem during the millennium, the thousand year rule and reign of Jesus in Revelation 20. And then after that state, after after that epoch, that period of time, that dispensation, after the tribulation period, the 77 of Daniel, then we move into the millennium. After the millennium of Revelation twenty one and twenty two, you already know because you're such good students, the eternal state. A new heaven, new earth, new Jerusalem. We're not gonna fix this world and usher in a golden era with golden dawn. And the n a r and all these guys, it's not gonna happen. The world is facing the most most wicked time the world has ever faced. Jesus said, except those days be short and no flesh be saved. But for the elect's sake, for the nation of Israel, which is at war with God yes, I love the nation of Israel. God's gonna bless those that bless them, curse those that curse them, but they're at war with God. And because of their transgressions, God's gonna give them the time of Jacob's trouble. You don't need to discipline Israel. God's got it covered. He's gonna discipline his own people. Two thirds of them are gonna die during the tribulation period. A one third remnant's gonna be preserved in Basra, present day Jordan, Petra. They're gonna be preserved. They're gonna go through the fire. They're gonna cry out, blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord. And Jesus is gonna return and save that remnant. Have not I chosen you twelve and one of you is a devil, Jesus said, betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, no love, None of the other disciples could even clueless. They they didn't know who is it me? Is it me? Is it me? They didn't even know Judas looked so much like a Christian. No love. Astorige love, the family love, no family love. The fileo love, a brotherly love, no brotherly love. The eros love, no, that doesn't fulfill, that doesn't satisfy the eros love. An agape love in the church. Have you seen the agape love in the church, the Agapeo operative in the church where we love one another? I've been betrayed and hurt with the phileo love, the brotherly love. I've been hurt with storge love, and I've hurt people in my family, and I've hurt my brothers. And the arrows doesn't satisfy the woman at the well in John four. She needs water that she can drink that she'll never thirst again. She needs the agape love. She needs God. She needs the work of the holy spirit in her heart and life that brings satisfaction that Mick Jagger never found. Couldn't get it. Can't can't get no. Can't get can't can't can't get no. Can't get it. Judas betrays thou the son of man with a kiss. Jesus called him a friend in the Garden Of Gethsemane. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, the kisses of an enemy are deceitful. Loaded with wax, is your love without wax? Is your love the agape love? The love of the spirit. In Deuteronomy thirteen three, I encourage you to read the book of Deuteronomy chapter 13. It's pretty amazing. It kind of, for me, it reminds me, it it hardens me, makes me even more firm in my in my conviction that I'm to love God more than I love you. Love him more than I love my wife, my children, everyone. And I'm gonna be tested in that love as a pastor. You're gonna be tested. In Revelation chapter or excuse me, Deuteronomy thirteen three, God says, I'm gonna test you. I'm gonna send a false prophet. I'm gonna send one of these YouTube dreamers, and they're gonna come along, and and I'm testing you to see whether you're gonna follow them or not. They're gonna come, and I'm paraphrasing out of the New Testament, they're gonna come with a different Jesus. They're gonna come with a different gospel. They're gonna come with a different spirit. And this this Deuteronomy thirteen three guy, he's able to actually bring forth a miracle, a line sign, a wonder. But in addition to that, he tries to influence them to worship a different God. And God says that's a test of whether you'll love me with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, all your strength. Oh. How does the false prophet convince me? How does a false prophet move me? He appeals, he studies human nature and he knows that I'm in love with the world. That I want God, but I want the world too. And I'll follow a red mega hat wherever it goes, because I want both. And I'm willing to look the other way because it's the economy, stupid. And I'll compromise the truth to go along, to get along. And I'm being presented heresy over and over and over with this kingdom now, all these guys in love with the world, and the root of its covetousness, and God's testing me. And we're told in first John two fifteen, to love not the world neither the things that are in the world. That all that's in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, the pride of life, Sounds familiar. Genesis three is not of the father but of the world. And the world perishes in lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abides forever. And James said friendship with the world is eminent. And he described in James four, James says, you adulterers and adulteresses. Why would he describe the people like that? Because he was moving forward to condemn covetousness. Because covetousness is idolatry. And if you're in love with the world, he says, adulterers, adulteresses, friendship with the world is enmity against God. You you pray, ask, seek, not. You pray according to God's will, he's gonna provide for you. But don't go past his will for your life, his provision for your life to fall in love with the things of the world and to compromise the truth of God's word, to go along to get along, to have a bigger church, more nickels, more noses. In Ezekiel thirty three thirty one, same thing. God says, you stand before the people, you give them my word, and the people hear, they have ears, they're hearing it, but they won't do it. They're they're in Matthew seven, they're building their houses on sand. They won't do it. They're not doers of the word. Why? Because they're covetous. And that whole list of sins in first Corinthians six, that heinous crime of whoremongers, lovers of themselves, you know, all the illicit terrible evangelical sins that people commit. Nobody ever preaches a sermon on covetousness, and that's in the list. It's in the list. Paul's an equal opportunity condemner of sin. Is your love sincere? Is your love without wax? Turn to first John four seven and eight. First John four seven and eight. We're gonna do something you're never gonna forget. This is gonna be life changing. Speak I'm speaking like a false prophet. Right? You guys ready? We're gonna sing this. You ever sing this song? Yes. Do you remember this song? No. I've been gifted with rhythm. You can stand if you want or you can sit. I'll go through it and I'll show you how to how this song's done because I'm also gifted as a singer. Beloved, let us love one another. Love one another. For love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, knoweth God. He that loveth not See, there's my rhythm. Knoweth not God, for God is love. God And you gotta reframe the ladies need to do the echo. God is love. So let's try that again. Ready? Beloved, let us love one another. And then the ladies, love one another. For love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love. Reframe it. God girls? First John four seven and eight. Alright. Or no, that's a different one. No. It is this one. Ephesians four thirty two, I thought. Alright. So let's try one more time. One more time. Just so this will be life changing. Before you leave. Before you you can't take it anymore. Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God, for God is love. God is love. Love it. Let us love one another. First John four seven and eight. Alright. Okay. Let's pray. Father, we thank you. We thank you for your love, Lord. And Lord, keep teaching us how to love. Keep, reminding us and help us to simplify our Christianity down to one word, love. Lord, our relationship with you to love the Lord God with all of our heart, all our mind, all our soul, all our strength, and to love our neighbor as our self, Lord. And these too, Lord, all the law and the prophets, all the word of God is summed up in a love. And Lord, we confess that we do not have the capacity to love like you command us to. So Lord, we cry out, we ask, we pray, we ask for you, Lord, to fill us to overflowing with your love, with your Holy Spirit, that Lord, can overcome our selfishness, that we can overcome our old, edemic nature and live the life of the spirit to love one another. Help us, Lord, we pray, and that all the world would know that we're Christians, Lord, by our love. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
