Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I'm become as a sounding brass or tinkling symbol. And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned and have not charity, it profits me nothing. Charity suffers long and is kind. Charity envies not. Charity vaunted not itself. It is not puffed up. Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked. That word easily isn't in there in the original. Is not provoked. Think of no evil. Rejoicest not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth. Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Charity never fails. But whether there be prophecies, they shall fail. Whether there be tongues, they shall cease. Whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfected has come, then that which is in part shall be done away. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child. I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For we now see through a glass darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity. Father, thank you once again for your holy word. Lord, we thank you that we're not the blind leading the blind falling into a ditch. Thank you, Lord, that we're not succumbing to all the lies, all the propaganda, all the craziness that the devil's wielding, Lord, as he's a liar and a murderer. And, Lord, I thank you that as children of light, there's such a peace, such a joy, such a blessing in knowing who we are in Christ and growing in that grace and knowledge of you and knowing, Lord, that you have a plan and a purpose that's eternal. And this work that you've begun, you're gonna complete it. And, we feel like aliens and strangers more and more, not not belonging here. This this isn't our home. Our citizenship is in heaven. And, Lord, that keeps us going as we continue to look for you, Lord, that blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and savior. But Lord, we occupy until you come. Until you come, Lord, let us be those who demonstrate what it means to love. As iniquity is abounding and the love of many is growing cold, help us, Lord, to stand out from the norm, stand out from the crowd as those who love. Those who are in love with God, those who are in love with one another, Lord. Let our love just just speak volumes of who we are as Christians. As you said, by this shall men know you're my disciples, that you have love one for another. So blessed, we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. Would you please be seated? The preeminence of love verses eight through 13 in first Corinthians 13. Love is permanent. Verse eight. Love never fails. Love never fails. I fail. I fail as a husband, a father, friend. I fail in every way there is to fail, but, love never fails. And so, we get second chances, third chances, all that. If it wasn't for God's love, if it wasn't for him, putting an agape love in my wife's heart, just a love that he gifted her with, gave her, you know, there's no way I could secure or maintain, you know, that that emotion that we call love. There's something far greater than this agape than normal love. This is an agape love. So love never fails which means it never collapses or suffers ruin. Love is unconquerable. In Song of Solomon verse eight chapter eight verse seven, many waters cannot quench love neither can the flood drown it. And so true agape love, the love only Christians can have, the unbelievers can have this kind of love. We went over this before. There's four different words in the Greek language for love. One is eros. It's the erotic love and erotica and that that's way way way, inferior to agapeo. So people who are indulging in the erotic love or engaging physically, emotionally on an animal level. You and I are above that. We are in a spiritual level. And, and then you have the phileo love. City of brotherly love, Philadelphia. We love as brothers and yet we see gangs, we see people fighting all the time. There's another love called storge. Families are It's a family love, but families are breaking apart, Divorcing, high divorce rates and people not wanting to even get married, not wanting to form families anymore. But when you have a agape love, your family is strengthened. When you have agape love, your friendships, your brothers with your brothers and sisters is strengthened. When you have agape love, you exercise an eroticness maybe in your marriage. Obviously, it should be in your marriage, but with with a deeper meaning than just the physical. There's a spiritual aspect of it, the two coming together and becoming as one. So love never fails. You can experience economic hardships. My grandma and grandpa, depression era, and lot of stories from that generation of economic hardship. It didn't ruin their marriage. It didn't ruin their family. It strengthened them as they just, you know, became closer and closer to one another. So you lost your job, you lost your house, you lost your credit rating, you went bankrupt, you're financially ruined. And you remember when you took those vows for richer or for poorer. Right? You promised to love and many marriages make it. Christian marriages definitely can make it and many do. Love never fails. So what got you through those hard times? Love. God's love. God just put a love in our heart and we had each other and and we made it through it. What about health problems? If, your spouse develops some health problems, kidney, cancer, whatever it might be, are you in it for the long haul? Are you gonna bail? Are you gonna say, no, didn't sign up to be a caregiver. I'm not gonna do that. So convalescing spouse, you promise in sickness and in health. No problem. When you have the love, the love never fails. The sickness won't beat you. Boy, one of the hardest jobs on the planet is being a caregiver. Anybody you know that's a caregiver, it is a twenty four seven occupation, if you will. And but it's not gonna beat me. I'm gonna continue to care for my my son or daughter that is down syndrome because I love them. And it's that love that God put in my heart, and there's no way I'm gonna quit on them. I'm not gonna quit on my husband, not gonna quit on my wife, years of doctor's appointments and such. And you thought you would be traveling, you know, you thought you'd be doing something something far greater in your mind, but you're the one that's gonna be at home going through dialysis and taking them to the oncologist and different types of treatments and stuff and praying your brains out and asking God to heal and but love is permanent and love never fails. Tragic circumstances, the farm burns down, the crops are destroyed, the dog runs away, and, jelly roll makes a music, makes a a song about it, you know. Or Kenny Rogers, you know, why did you leave me, Lucille, you know, four hungry children and a crop in the field, you know. It's it's a place for a I think I did that right or Willie Nelson, any of them. You get a country song out of it, but we don't trivialize it in many cases. In the South right now, in Florida and in Tennessee, places that are being flooded, people are being absolutely wiped out. Will their marriage survive? Will the people react one to another in in a loving manner, caring and helping one another or trying to profit and prey upon one another? Love never fails. Love lets you laugh at adversity, and you're able to you're able to worship the Lord. Maybe not laugh at first, but later you're able to look back on it and find the humor in it and and not let it be so bitter that it destroys your marriage. You know? Love never fails. God's love never fails. And and the the other thing with within our lives, we we always have to remember God's sovereign filter. God's sovereign. He's on the throne. He's in control. So anything he allows in our life, missus Job, mister Job, whoever you are, anything God allows in our life, it has to first go through his providential filter. And he knew ahead of time. He knew that on this date, in this time, at this season in your life, you'd be going through these sort of heartaches or hardships. You're gonna have a son or a daughter that's a prodigal, and you can't sleep at night. It might last twenty years, might last thirty years, but he knew it. And he equipped you, and he is equipping you, and he's strengthening you so that love will never ever ever fail in your life. And David, when his mighty men bailed on him at Ziklag, the He encouraged himself in his God, you know. He got alone with the Lord. Job's wife said, Job, know, hey, honey. Why don't you curse God and die? And he says, oh, you speak as a foolish woman speak. Shall we not receive good at the hand of the Lord and not evil? And in all this Job sinned not with his lips. Naked came into the world. Naked, I'm gonna go. The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. That's victorious faith. It's faith in God. And and it's the love. It's the love of Christ that constrains us. We don't wanna bring shame to the Lord. We don't wanna just be with the Lord as mercenaries only when times are good. When times get bad, look at it as being entrusted. You're being entrusted with some adverse circumstances that went through his providential filter, and the devil's saying they don't love you. They're not gonna weather this. They're gonna bail on you. They're gonna quit. And God says, no, they're not. They're gonna love me even more because because love never fails. Paul said in second Timothy four, my first defense, no man stood with me. You're before Nero and you're gonna get your head chopped off and everybody bails on you. No man stood with me, but the Lord stood with me. The Lord will be with you there. The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you no matter how dangerous it gets, no matter how crazy it gets, the Lord's gonna be there for you and I. In Romans eight thirty five, Paul says, who? Not what, not what circumstances, but who? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? As it is written for thy sake, we are killed all the day long. We are counted as sheep for the slaughter. No. Nay. In all these things, not around them. In all these things Paul listed there, in all these circumstances come into a Christian's life. In all these things, we're more than conquerors through him that loved us in the past tense. So when you're inclined to think that these circumstances are so great that God doesn't love me, no, his love never fails. And it's l o v e d in the past tense. The Holy Spirit wants to remind you of the cross. God's demonstration of his love for you. He went to the cross for you and his love will never fail in your life. The devil's gonna try and drive a wedge between you and God. He's gonna try and drive a wedge and he's gonna put lies into your mind and your heart and other people coming along and lie to you and say, you know, you're condemned. You're no good. God's punishing you. He's doing this because you're wicked, you're evil, you got secret sin, know, and whatever. It's all bogus. If the Lord were to mark iniquities, who could stand? If he were to start a marking iniquity, secret iniquities that all of us commit, who could stand? Nobody can stand up against that kind of scrutiny. Instead, it's better to say, in me that is in my flesh dwells no good thing. Oh, wretched man that I am. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Alright. Alright. That's where I'm at, but what are we gonna do now? Now I'm gonna love on you. I'm gonna love on you for all eternity. I'm gonna transform and I'm gonna change you and I'm gonna keep loving on you. No matter what you do, no matter what you've done, I'm gonna take your sins and I'm gonna cast from the east to the west. I'm gonna remember them no more. Paul says, for I'm persuaded. Are you persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Love never fails. Maybe you've been through a divorce one or two or three. My mom's seven times, but love never fails. And you watch marriages fail. You watch business partnerships fail. You watch friendships fail. You watch friendships within the family fail, but love never fails. The love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord, love never fails. Jesus will never ever ever Jesus will never divorce you. He's never gonna say I'm sick and tired of your whining. How do you know? How do you know I'm such a whiner? He doesn't even talk with you and I with that tone. Never. Never does he speak to you with that tone. You're his bride, and he loves you into eternity. The last days is testing the love of the world. The world is being put under the microscope. The world is intensifying. Perilous times are coming. It's gonna be harder and harder financially for people. It's gonna be harder and harder in war torn regions. It's gonna be harder and harder, period. Life's gonna get much much harder, far greater than the great depression that our grandparents went through. And, we're gonna find out who believes and who doesn't believe in Jesus. Those who believe in Jesus are gonna have a capacity to love and to share and to not lose it. Gerald Celente has a saying. He's a trends trends journal guy. He looks for trends and economic trends and all. And he says, when people lose everything, they lose it. We would say it this way, you don't know what flavor you are till you're put in hot water, your tea bag. And once you're put in hot water, now we find out what flavor you are. Now we find out when things are good. Oh, yeah. Praise the Lord. But when difficulty comes, now we're gonna find out is the fragrance of Christ emanating from our lives. Are we reminding people of Jesus? Are we angry, bitter? And if we are, we need to catch ourselves quick. If we're reverting to the flesh, you're not gonna be able to battle and fight in the flesh and the arm of the flesh. You're gonna lose. It can only in in the power of the Holy Spirit where God gives us that supernatural love that we're gonna be able to overcome the adversity where we where we die to self rather than yielding to the flesh that of selfishness. Selfishness destroys a marriage. Selfishness destroys a church. Selfishness destroys a nation. It's selfishness. Me, I, I want, I'm entitled. I want this. I deserve this. I gotta have this. It's that mentality that the communists are trying to infiltrate our schools and our whole way of life that, you know, that people are just owed things, you know, and not true. Because iniquity will abound, Jesus said the love of many will wax cold in the last days, so the world is gonna come under a siege. The world doesn't know how to truly love. How is killing babies truly loving? Why is there even an argument about this little baby's life? It's the most heinous, wicked thing a society could do. And yet, we're gonna not only allow it, we're gonna fund it. We're we're gonna not only gonna fund it, but we're gonna make money off of it. We're gonna sell the baby parts and put it into food and cosmetics and every else every other thing we can think of. How wicked are we? There's no debate. This is a life. You're taking a life. Where's your love mom? Where's your love dad? Because the men are involved too. Where's your love society? And then you wanna move in a direction of more and more in the direction of euthanasia of evaluating a person's life and saying, well, they're they're invalid they're not very they're not valuable anymore. They're taking up space. They're costing society too much money. So let's put them in a little cocoon and they can press a button when they wanna when they wanna die or we'll just give them a shot. We'll we'll end their life all over Europe and come into a city near us, the doctor Kevorkian ending of your life, you know. Who determines if if a life is valuable or not? Is it only a Bill Gates and a Soros and these guys that determine the population's too great, now we need to depopulate the planet? Well, let's start with you, Ted. Let's start with you guys, you know. What makes you so special, you know, in their god complex, you know. The eros, the erotic love depicted by pornography, humans loving on an animal level. What's the result? More sex crimes, can't satisfy the lust. More divorce, more teenage runaways, more sex trafficking because of the abuse. More prostitution, more abortions and suicide. Iniquity abounding in the love of many waxing cold, growing cold. The filet of the brotherly love failing. The iniquity abounding, the gangs, the broken families, the violence, the prisons. The sociologists claim it's low self esteem. I don't know how that ever got into the churches, but it did. Had to fight real hard to keep all this psychology out of the church. It's real easy for me to just stay with the bible. It's just simple. Low self esteem? The bible says in Ephesians, no man yet ever hated his own self, but nourishes and cherishes it. That's why Paul instructs husbands to love your wives like you love yourself. You wanna know how much a guy loves himself? Just wait till he gets sick. He's like the focus of the whole planet, you know. Drop what you're doing and wait on me, you know. Guys guys aren't trying to destroy no. You nerd. Oh, I got an owie. I got an owie. Well, I'm not your mom. You know? But it's true. The love of self, obsessed with self. Low self esteem. No. The problem is we esteem ourselves too high. We need to humble ourselves. And as we humble ourselves, God exalts us. God lifts us up. The the educators cry for more funding, for more sex ed, for more condoms, birth control, abortions, homosexual, gender neutral training. When we had a daycare ten, twelve, thirteen years ago, there was a training, a STARS training that the ladies that worked in the daycare had to take, it was horrific back then. Absolutely horrific that these guys think toddlers think that way, that need that sort of it was horrible. These guys are freaks, and it's it's not a training. It's a grooming. It's a desensitizing and taking away their innocence and introducing them to sexual things that shouldn't even be in their minds, you know, anywhere near them. And, just a sickening sickening aspect of of society, preying upon children and Oprah's saying, if you do it right, you know, it feels good to them, you know, this pedophilia and all. I mean, what wackadoodles? Who are these people? Who would who would ever allow your children in an environment where they're in jeopardy? You can't get them back. You can't get that back once they do these things. It it it it messes with the psyche, you know, messes with who they are the rest of their lives. Only a miracle of God's conversion, God coming and and moving and working. If any man being Christ, he's a new creation. The old things are passed away. I mean, a whole lot of people that come to Christ, we come broken. We come beaten down. The world just uses and abuses and throws us away. And how did it start out? It was all in the name of love, name of education. The world's love produces sick freaks. Freaks at the at the libraries and stuff. What they call them, fairies? What do you need a fairy there for? Time. What are you reading? What are you indoctrinating them in? What are you doing? You really wanna dress up like that? Agape love never fails. Agape love saves sick freaks. God's love reaches you and I in the worst condition we could ever imagine. The hardest ones to reach are the religious self righteous, the hypocrites. But many of us, we come as sick freaks. Where would where would we be today if the Lord had not intervened? Jesus said he didn't come for the righteous, but for sinners. It's those who are sick that need a physician and Jesus is the great physician. He's the one that puts our life back together and it's love. It's it's that love and Simon the Pharisee couldn't believe that Jesus in Luke seven was around a woman that was so sinful. And you know the story. Basically, Jesus said, those that are forgiven much love much, Simon. Look at the love she has for me. And Simon, you don't have very much love for me because you see yourself as being a a prize in your self righteousness. So the Lord has come to seek and to save those who were lost, and it's his love that drew us. It's his love that keeps us. It's his love that that fills us from within, and we don't need the alcohol or the drugs or the illicit sexual activity or things that we thought, you know, would would satisfy. Even the lust for money and things, we we were empty, but it's God's love. It's his love that finally fills my heart and keeps my heart full. In Jeremiah thirty one thirty one, the prophet, the Lord says through the prophet, I have loved thee with an everlasting love. Therefore, with loving kindness have I drawn thee. God's love never grows cold or fails. So love never fails, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail. Whether there be tongues, they shall cease. Whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. So the gifts are temporal. The gifts of the spirit that you and I are able to use to minister one to another to edify the church and to glorify God with. These gifts are, the charisma, the charismata, they're gifts from God, but they're temporal. Agape is eternal. Love is eternal. Never gonna go away. Love endures. Love is permanent. Secondly, love is perfect. Verse nine. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. The more we study the bible, the bigger our God gets. Hey, Abraham, Sarah. I'm coming back this time next year and Sarah's gonna get pregnant. Yeah. Right. She starts laughing. And Abraham believed God. But the Lord asked the question, is anything too hard for God? And Jeremiah asked the same question. How big is your God? Is anything too hard for God? Is there anything God can't do? Do you put a limit on what God can do? How big's your God? He's a big God. For we know in part, prophesy in part, and the more we study the bible, the bigger god gets. We just we can never exhaust who god is as you study the attributes of god, as you're getting to know god. Just can't exhaust it. Can't reach a point where you say to people, hey, do you read the bible? Yeah. I read it once. What do mean you read it once? Yeah. I I read it. I read it I read it three times. You know? It's like they're reading it as like it's a book. And then they just set it down, and they glean whatever knowledge they have, and that's it. But they're not born again. They're not born of the spirit. They don't know that it's a love letter and you don't put a love letter down. 66 books, 40 different authors, thousands year period of time with one central theme. One theme, God's love for you. The volume of the book is written of Jesus. And as you read this book, you've this bible, this love letter, more and more you discover the love Jesus has for you. The love of his father, the love of the spirit, and you start to get excited about the return of Jesus, your groom. He's coming. He's gone to prepare a place for you, and it's a picture of a of a wedding. It's a picture of a marriage ceremony. He's already marked you out. He's already given you the engagement ring, the earnest of the Holy Spirit. You belong to him. But now he's gone to prepare a place for you, and if he's gone to prepare a place for you at his father's house, he's gonna come again and receive you onto himself that where he is, there you may be also. So the fetching. You're engaged. You're betrothed. And he's gonna come with the rapture and he's gonna grab hold of you and catch you away in a moment's notice. It's a love story, isn't it? It's a Jewish love story. The picture of Jewish love story and you're enraptured to his home. And then he consummates the marriage, the two becoming one. The gifts are lavished upon you at the b m c judgment of Christ. And then he brings you back to show you off. He brings you back to earth at the end of the tribulation period. And he sets up his kingdom and his kingdom where he's gonna rule and reign for a thousand years. In Revelation 19, he's coming and every eye can see him and he's coming with 10 thousands and thousands of his saint and his bride has made herself ready and she's in clean white garments. No sin, no spot, nothing dull, nothing ugly, no more ugliness, washed in the blood of the lamb. And we come back to Earth and the start of the millennium, the thousand year rule and reign is the marriage supper of the lamb in Revelation chapter 20. And we rule and reign with him as kings and priests for a thousand years, king Jesus. Then at the end of the millennium, he loses Satan to test the the Gentile human beings and their human bodies. You and I are in our new glorified body. No more sinning. No more whining. No more complaining. Perfected in him. We're not little gods. No. We're not there. That's the life of the wicked one. We're in our new glorified body. We're Christ like. And then on in the ages to come, the age past, the millennium. He's gonna continue to show in Ephesians two verse seven his kindness upon you and I, his love. It never ends. It's an eternal love. The permanence of his love, the perfection of his love. Never gonna end. But prophecy, it's gonna it has a shelf life, knowledge shelf life, but not his love. His love is perfected. For we know in part, we prophecy in part. And so we we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of him. Our understanding is partial. The more we know, the more we find out we don't know. The more you study, the greater he becomes and you find out I'm just scratching the surface. That's why in the Sunday morning service, I try my hardest to give you two hours, you know. Trying to give you it all. And I can't. You're you're just scratching the surface. And you guys sit there and take it. You take it week after week. There's so much. How do you leave anything out? The more I study, the more there is. One of my teachers said the art of preaching is knowing what to leave out because you can't give them at all. I keep trying to give you it all. I wanna give you my put my whole heart into it. Zophar, Eliphaz Bildad, Zophar, one of the miserable comforters of Job. He said in Job 11 verse seven, canst thou by searching find out God? Can thou find out the almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven. What can you do? Deeper than hell. What can you know? How you ever gonna get to know God? Philip says to Jesus, show us the father and that'll suffice. And Jesus said, have I been such a long time with you, Philip? You don't know me? He that has seen me has seen the father. I'm here representing dad. I have the characteristics of dad. Philip, in Isaiah fifty five eight nine, the lord says, my thoughts are not your thoughts nor my ways your ways. As high as the heaven is above the earth, so are my thoughts than your thoughts and my ways your ways. God is omniscient. He knows all things. God's omnipotent. God's omnipresent. He's he's eternal, infinity. We could never exhaust. We could never, you know, get to know him completely, but we're gonna spend eternity seeing the very facets of him more and more. Getting to see Jesus ruling from Jerusalem for a thousand years. And you know what? I I'll bet you one thing. There's no believer gonna be late for church when Jesus is there. You're gonna be there front of the line. I wanna get Jesus got something to say. He's got something to say. I wanna hear what Jesus has to say, you know. And church alive is worth the drive, let me tell you. Paul prayed in Ephesians three seventeen, that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, the length, the depth, the height, and to know the love of Christ with surpasses knowledge that you might be filled with all the fullness of God. And so the dimensions, Paul's desire is that you're rooted and grounded in Christ, rooted and grounded in love, and you see the dimensions, the width, the height, the depth, the breadth of his love that you enter in. His vast love as you get to know him, which surpasses head knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. We can learn facts about God and go to school and seminary, cemetery, whatever, and have all these different facts, but not know God. Nicodemus was a religious leader, a rabbi, and he didn't know the true living God. He he needed to be born again. There's a lot of people in the church today that don't know Jesus. They know about Jesus, but they don't know Jesus. You gotta know Jesus. Christianity is a relationship, a love relationship. And when the light bulb goes on, you know that you know that you know that you know. And you may not be able to explain it theologically, but you know that you know that you know that you know. Because your spirits bearing witness with his spirit that you are a child of God. Verse 10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. This word perfect is a very important word. Greek word telios. Now it's in the neuter. It's in the neuter form, not masculine, not feminine, but in the neuter. That which is complete is its definition of full age of maturity. So some say this is referring to the canon of scripture. These are what's called cessationists. And what they mean by this is these are guys that don't that are really smart, that teach the bible in many cases really well, but they don't speak in tongues. And if they don't speak in tongues, you must not speak in tongues. So what they're saying is because they don't have the gift, because they don't have the charismatic gifts, even though they have the gift of teaching, They say the gifts have ceased. They're called cessationists. The gifts are not in operation today. So they interpret, and I don't know where you can find this in the text. They interpret that what Paul's referring to here is when the bible, the canon of scripture is complete, we won't need prophecy and knowledge and the sign gifts and the speaking gifts. We won't need them anymore. So where, you know, where does it say that? Where does it say it in the book of acts? Where does it say it? Anywhere in the bible does it say that? Why did you come up with that? Cessationists. No more gifts. They think the gifts are done. And, I don't know how they get that. If you continue to read, it's pretty obvious. When Jesus comes back, then that which is in part shall be done away. So we're prophesying. We're speaking in tongues. We're, you know, teaching and and all, and we're doing it in part. And we're being changed. We're being mold and shaped from glory to glory in the image of of the Lord with the gifts that we have, with the pastors, teachers, evangelists. Now, we don't have any apostles anymore. They died with the early 12, you know. But we have apostles in the sense of those that are sent. We're all sent to go and make disciples and there are evangelists and they're gifted in Ephesians four for evangelism. There there are people in this room who have a gift of discernment, word of knowledge, wisdom. How do I know? Because you know the truth. You haven't been deceived by the propaganda. That's a gift of the spirit. God put a check-in your spirit. God put something there that you listen to and you said, no, this doesn't seem right. This doesn't seem right. It it it I know I've been trained my whole life long to trust and believe the government, but this doesn't seem right. I'm gonna check this out further. And as you check it out further, you're so excited that the Lord put that check-in your spirit. It's not all mechanical. There's the life of the spirit. The the unknown. At any moment, God can move and work on a person's heart and life. At any moment, God can move and work in your life. Why would we go through as so baptisty that there's no gifts of the spirit? Or why would we go like Bethel and the charismatics, the fanatics, and abuse the gifts of the spirit, make everybody out there ever never wanna hear about the gifts of the spirit, you know? Throw the baby out with the bathwater. I want every gift God has for me and I wanna use every gift God has for me because this work is hard. It's a hard work. I need supernatural power and enablement and gifting to get this to get this done. I'll take everything he's got. And the Lord has gifted every single one of us severally as he wills. Each and every one of us have at least one gift of the spirit. So don't listen to these guys that are saying the gifts of the spirit have ceased. They're cessationists and they have no grounds. They have no scriptural basis for that. And if you think they do, simply because of church, you know, what are they? The frozen chosen, you know? They're cold and, you know. In Calvary Chapels, we try to maintain a balance with the gifts of the spirit. We started it out very, very charismatic. Calvary Chapels did. Pastor Chuck came from a Pentecostal background, and he saw the abuses of speaking in tongues in a service like this. So he that speaks in unknown tongue speaks not on the men, but on the God. As we get into chapter 14, we'll see that. So you don't interrupt the service. The Holy Spirit's not gonna interrupt himself when the gift of teaching's, you know, in play. So he grew up with the pastor starting out a sermon, and then inevitably, these same people would take all the attention in the room and interrupt and speak in tongues and walk around the room and streamers and stuff like that. So he had to endure it, but but we k was even more charismatic than Chuck, and and we'd have afterglows, and we'd have, you know, go to camp and things like that, and believed in people being baptized in the holy spirit, and speaking in tongues. So we had believers meetings where you could go and you'd wait upon the Lord for the outpouring of his holy spirit. People might have a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, a prophecy maybe. And we Pastor Chuck Mateer, I think was every Wednesday night had the believers meeting and and then small groups, a lot of different small group activity. But then what happened was we were we were really balanced. We had the baptistic guys and we had the charismatic people. And so you got the hippies with no shoes on. You got They're very artistic and creative and all that. And then you got the guys next to them, the Boeing Mcdonald Douglas engineers and you know, wing tips and suits and the whole thing, baptists and all that. They're sitting next to each other and God's breaking down all these barriers. God's birthing the church with lots of music and lots of ways to express in worship, what the people were experiencing. Then something happened where what's called the vineyard movement sprung from Calvary Chapel. And the vineyard movement began to move in the direction of experiential without scriptural grounding. If you're gonna go do something out there, run through a fire tunnel up at Bethel or whatever it is you're doing, you need to be or even slain in the spirit. You need to explain that scripturally. If you can't explain it scripturally, we don't care how what kind of phenomena it is. You might be being deceived by the occult, areas of witchcraft and such. So we say, no. We're all we're gonna stay with the scripture. If we see it acted out in the scripture, that's where we draw that's where we stay. Well, they didn't like that. So pastor Chuck asked them to change their name. So the vineyard was born with John Wimber. And then unfortunately, we missed those people because I decided to stay with the teaching side. And that's I lean more that way. But man, I really I really wanted to flow more in the gifts, you know, like these are artsy people and everything. And and I love their music. Vineyard music for worship was the best. And and so as time went on, the vineyard went too far in its experiential and and it dissipated to a great degree. So pastor Chuck had some wisdom in that of not being associated with it. But it just spun off and became the Toronto blessing and became the Bethel thing. It's originally from the vineyard thing. So they just re, you know, repackage it. And very little teaching, But, when you can get the two together, when you can get the word of God to keep those guys feet on the ground, you know, and they get us going, get out of our rigidness, you know, there's a really good balance in the body of Christ and I yearn for that balance. That would be really nice. So I'm not a cessationist and I'm open to the moving and working of God's spirit, a genuine moving and working of God's spirit. And I believe God is genuinely working and moving by the power of his spirit in your guys' lives, in our lives. And it happens so naturally. It's supernatural happened so naturally. And, the way that you love one another, the way that you care for one another, the way that you love God's word, the way that you discern, I think discernment today is one of the greatest gifts you could ever pray for. There's We're living in a time of such tremendous lies, propaganda. So to be a lover of truth and to know the truth and have discernment and and prove all things, hold fast to that which is good and test the spirits, you know, John says. Test the spirit to see whether they be of God Because in this time, we're watching false Christ and false prophets. We're watching them emerge as Jesus said in Matthew 24. And we're we're watching, you know, an apostasy of falling away from the truth, a rebellion against God's word. And we need to be wise and be ready and not give in to the cunning the cunning slate of men, the cunning way that they're preying upon people. And so we expose, have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. In many cases, that's a gift of the spirit to know that this person is a is a wolf. The apostle Paul walking along and and this woman has a, you know, a demon in her, you know, and she's able to soothsay. She's able to tell people's fortunes and all. And he's provoked by it, and Peter provoked by it and exposing. And so those are those are very important gifts in the last days here. And so no ceasing of it. And I I covet, I thank the Lord for people that love the word of God, stay with the word of God, and and you're not deceived by heresy. I don't have to spend all my time fighting with you about heresy. I just wanna stay with the word. I don't have time for the YouTube prophets. I don't have time for all these wackadoodles, these self described experts. You know, it's so simple. Just be a Berean, stay with the word of God, and continue to love. Speak the truth in love is is very, very important, obviously. So so some say it's the filling of the canon of scripture. Some say it's Jesus. That which is perfect has come, speaking of Jesus, and some of eternity, that when the eternity comes. And so where we will see and and be with Jesus. Second Corinthians five six says, we are always confident knowing that while we're at home in this body, we're absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith not by sight. We are confident I say willing rather to be absent the body and to be present with the Lord. So all my questions will be answered when I see Jesus face to face. Right? And so when I see Jesus face to face, I'm gonna be perfected and, when that which is perfectly has come and that which is in part shall be done away. So when I was a child, verse 11, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, put away childish things. So no need for these gifts in heaven. They're gonna cease. Not gonna need these gifts when we get to heaven. I'll be full grown. I'll be perfect. I'll complete. I'll be mature. So no longer ruled by childish attitudes, the church of Corinth had these childish attitudes, immature reasoning and childish speaking. So many times our love is childish or selfish. It's like we watch the toddlers. Mine. Mine. Me. And with my grandkids and all, I've noticed a lot of times it's the one that's the loudest that dominates and, it's usually the youngest one. We can't stand the crying. So, alright, give them the channel changer. Alright. Put on Bluey. Put on Bluey, you know. And, so you're gonna be there to pacify the little ones and that's people that are mature are able to do that because, hey, we're gonna help them grow up a little bit before we start to, tighten the reins a bit. And so we recognize the necessity of of, you know, giving into him at that point. Verse 12, for now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then shall I know even as also I am known. So in life, in this life, we see only reflections of God. Moses got the afterglow. No man seen the Lord in the fullness of his glory and lived. Right? So we get reflections, we get little glimpses like a diamond, multifaceted, different sides. And so when we're fellowshipping with the Lord and we're we're studying the word and we're in worship, we might get a little glimmer. We might little little facet of who he is. Little little part of, you know, his love. Little part of his grace. A little picture of his mercy. And we look at these attributes. We look at his his character and who he is. We get little little snippets of it, if you will. So Corinth was known for her manufacturing of mirrors but she didn't have glass so they'd use brass. They'd use metal and they would buff it, you know, and shine it up and so it doesn't give a real clear distinct, you know, how many pixels are in your phone, how good of a, you know, look you're gonna get. It didn't quite have that. It was polished brass. It wasn't the glass of today. So we see darkly. We see indistinctly much a mystery and a riddle. What do we know about God? In Romans one, everyone's without excuse because of his revelation as creator. Right? I'm gonna go see the Grand Canyon this week, Lord Willen, in Sedona. And Lord Willen, I get to go see my dad up in up in Prescott Valley, my brother. So I'm looking forward to it, but I'm looking forward to the the beauty of God's creation. If I have a choice of where to go, it's always the beach. I love the beach and I can't exhaust the beach. Well, now I'm being invited to the grand alright. I'll go. What's a big deal? You know? Is there a beach there? You know? And but I found out there's a bunch of swimming pools. And I know what's gonna happen. I'm a have my mind blown. I'm a be blown away like, woah. We homeschooled our kids. We should have took them there. Oh, what? Why didn't we take them there? You know? So I know pastor Kevin over at Calvary Port Orchard's dedicated a lot of years to helping doctor Walt Brown with the tectonic plate theory. And and fascinating, probably the best explanation of how things were shaped by the flood and the power of the water and the power of the water underneath, the waters of the deep that exploded like a hydrogen bomb and pushed these asteroids and all these parts of the earth out into space. And when they come back, guess what? They originally from Earth, you know. And so that's fascinating. And and so the Grand Canyon is one that they look at. Another one that they look at that's real close here is Mount Saint Helens. The level of sediment and how quickly it was carved out, you know, not billions of years, you know. And the the evolutionists are losing the argument, so they're just getting sick and tired of being proven wrong. And they just they just try to keep a monopoly that they have, you know, what they have. They don't wanna debate or talk about it. But from creation, tell something. The stars, looking up at the stars, the Grand Canyon, the beach, the sunsets. I think one of the greatest, pictures of who God is is a little baby. A little baby girl or boy. Puppies. I like puppies, you know. Kittens, just just his creation. And you when start to look at the animals, if you have the animal channel, you see all these different characters and faces and how did you come up with all this, you know? And there isn't one of them that's a suitable mate for Adam, not one, not one. Of course not. But man, they sure were pretty good and he named them all. Adam named them all. Pretty intelligent dude. Really smart in that he waited so he could get Eve. But I mean, I'm just fascinated by the animals. Just amazing. My God created these and the dinosaurs. You know how the kids the kids get so excited about dinosaurs, don't they? And bugs and lizards and snakes and butterflies, and all these things. I mean, it tells something about who God is. His word reveals much of who he is. As we study God's word, the volume of the book is written of Jesus. If you wanna get to know Jesus, read his word. Be a student of God's word. Be in the word every day. I mean, you you gotta put the channel changer down and let Oprah have a rest, you know, get to know Jesus, you know. Now we'd probably say nowadays, the phone down, get addicted to that phone and and social media. And so the word of God reveals much of who he is. And then you wanna get really get to know him? Get to know Jesus. His son reveals who he is. And as you get to know Jesus, as we get to know Jesus, then when the counterfeits come along, Paul said that if anybody comes to you preaching a different Jesus, let him be anathema. We know who he is. He's God. They come with anything else, no. Let him be anathema. Let him be a curse. If he comes with a different spirit, you have discernment. You know, that's a different spirit. That's wrong. That isn't the heart of God and a different gospel. No. That's not the gospel. I don't care how good you try to be, one world religious system at the last days. You're not getting into heaven by being good. No matter how many popes or Mormons or Muslims or Islam or everybody's involved in it. You don't get there by being good because there's none good. No. Not one. You get there by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ, and so we know this to be true. So we as children, we're perfected in him. We're finite and he's infinite. We're children and he's perfect. God is love. In first John three two, beloved, now are we the sons of God. It does not yet appear what we shall be. I don't know what I'm gonna be like, but I know that when he appears, when that which is perfect has come, when he appears, I'm gonna know even as I'm known. He knows me already. He knows the finished Rick. He knows the perfected Rick. And my relationship with him is gonna be perfected. I'm not gonna be a God, but matured, complete. All that mystery and all that, you know, seeing partially, now I'm gonna see him face to face. And he's gonna transform and change me from glory to glory into his image and the dead in Christ rise first and we are to live in me should be caught up. I'm gonna be transformed completely. No body and soul anymore. I'm gonna have my new glorified body. Beloved, are we the sons of God. It doesn't yet appear we shall be, but we know that when he appears, we should be like him for we'll know as he is. And he that has this hope in him, what hope? The hope that one day I get to put off this old rig, this old fleshly nature, this nature that fights against him. As much as I wanna do better, you know, that Romans seven, things I do wanna do, don't. Things I don't wanna do, I do. And I wanna be in Romans eight. I wanna be living the life of the spirit, and I do okay for a few hours, maybe a day, and then I then I'm reminded what a wretched man I am again. I'm tired of it. Lord, let me put off this body of death. Get rid of this carcass, this this zombie I have to carry around. Let's bury it. Let's get rid of it. Let me have my new glorified body. Let's be complete. Let me grow up. He that has a hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure. There's a desire to live a holy life, to live as close as I can to Jesus. We'll be able to love like Jesus on the highest plane, the spiritual agape love. Love is permanent. Love is perfect. Love is preeminent. Thirdly, notice verse 13. And now by the faith, hope, charity, these three, but the greatest of these is charity. The gifts cease. The gifts will eventually cease, just not now. The gifts will cease, but the virtues of faith, hope, and love will continue. Faith, hope, and love will continue. Faith continues. We continue to trust in God and are committed to him. Hope continues and that he's a God of hope, which means we're gonna anticipate with pleasure. As we said in Ephesians two verse seven that in the ages to come, and I always like to stop here and make you think of the eon or ages. What age are you in church? Church Church age. That's right. And it started to say with Pentecost and continues to today. Right? Until Romans eleven twenty five, blindness apart has happened unto Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. So we're living in the church age and the rapture closes off the church age. The rapture of the church, the dead in Christ. What's the age after the church age? Time wise. The '77 of Daniel, the tribulation period. The clock starts with the '77, Daniel 09/25 through '27. There's seven years remaining concerning the nation of Israel. The bible calls it the tribulation period of the time of Jacob's trouble. So the nation of Israel, we're not replacement theology. Calvary Chapel is not. We don't think that the church took the place of the of Israel. We believe that Israel, 05/14/1948 in fulfillment of Ezekiel thirty six and thirty seven was born again, raised up in unbelief, regathered in unbelief by and large. Blindness in part has happened unto Israel. They're not fully aware. Two thirds in Zechariah thirteen eight are gonna be wiped out during the tribulation period. A one third remnant's gonna be preserved, and Jesus said they're not gonna see his face till they say, blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord. So the seven year tribulation period is the next age. The age after that is the millennium. And we're gonna see, it says here, that in the ages to come, he might show the exceeding riches of his grace and his kindness towards us through Christ Jesus. So the ages to come. After the millennium, is he done with us? No. We go into Revelation twenty one and twenty two, and we see eternity. It continues in eternity, the age of eternity where he continues to pour out his loving kindness. Who knows what he has expected for, you know, a plan for us. If he made this in six day he didn't need six days to make this, but think about it. All this time, if you will, he's in eternity. But I mean, he he might have a planet just for surfing. I I know I keep saying that, but with your new body, you know, or you like to fish. I mean, think if you get to go out to the outer galaxy, shop till you drop, or go see nice things, or whatever it is you like to do. You know, you you see Jerusalem coming down from heaven like a star coming down toward Jerusalem, you know, the new Jerusalem. And you got this new body where you can, during the millennium, go on up there and then come back down to the earthly Jerusalem. You can travel. You know, you don't need no Tesla. You don't need no lithium batteries. Be amazing, wouldn't it? We're able to walk through walls, walk through doors, just appear. I mean, there's so much in the ages to come. What he's been planning, you know, for you and I, it's just it's it's thrilling. It's exciting. It's it's People think, oh, the Christian life's so boring. I like partying. No. You you have no idea what you're missing out on. The Christian life is anything but boring. Christian life is exciting. When's the last time you've been thrown in jail for being a Christian? That's exciting. You're the one that lives the boring life. We never know if they're gonna throw us in jail for standing out in front of an abortion clinic anymore or saying anything in social media about the sanctity of life. They're getting tired of hearing it, aren't they? Things are getting more exciting, more real. And Gary and the guys, they're they're already collecting bail money for me. They know where I'm going. Gonna happen one day. Right? And I'm not gonna do good in prison, so don't be praying that for me. I don't belong there. So love is so as great as faith and hope are, love is preeminent. The greatest of these is love. Why is that? Without love, we're nothing. Faith without love is cold. Hope without love is grim. Life's a bummer. Our hope is heaven. So here we go. Here's what where I think we're at in the age in which we're living right now. Here's where the struggle is. Here's where the struggle is with the candidacy. Here's where the struggle is in the selection cycle. This is where we as Christians are having a hard time. Right here. Ready? First John two fifteen, love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, the pride of life is not of the father but of the world. And the world passes away in the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abides forever. You weren't made for this world. This world's gonna be destroyed, up, and burned up with fire. God is something much much better than this world system. This world system which dominates over this world with the principalities and powers, the little G God of this world rule and reigning. God's gonna remove all of that. He's gonna set up his kingdom. He's gonna reinvigorate the earth like the Garden of Eden, remove the curse from the garden, and you and I are gonna rule and reign with him as kings and priests for a thousand years. This earth is not our home. Why is love preeminent? Because it's an attribute of God. God is love. We need faith, we need hope, but God is the one we believe and hope in. Why would Jesus go to the cross for me? Faith? Would Jesus go to the cross me for hope? What nailed him to the tree? It's love. It's love that nailed him to the tree. Love is the answer. Love motivated him to save me. Love drew me unto him. Love nailed him to the cross. It wasn't the Jews, it wasn't the Romans, it was love. Greater love has no man than this than a man lay down his life for his friends. Jesus willingly laid his life down for you and I and it was love, not hate. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do. It's love. You choose to go serve in the military. You choose to jeopardize your life out of love. It's a love for your country, a love for your mom and dad, a love for your fellow soldiers. It's love. Love is the greatest motivator. The love of Christ constrains me. It's not money, it's love. Love is permanent. Love is perfect. Love is a prerequisite. Love is the path to walk in. Love is preeminent. The greatest of these is love. For God so loved, point of the cross of Calvary. For God so loved you. Personal. God so loved me. You revealed yourself to me that night. You took the scales off my eyes. You opened my heart. That gospel message that maybe nobody else heard or understood. I understood it. The miracle of conversion at that moment, turning from my sins, crying out to God, God be merciful to me a sinner as I'm turning in repentance. You did that? Yeah. I did that. No man can come unto me, Jesus said, without the father which has sent me draw him and I'll raise him up in the last day. The father drew you. The holy spirit drew you. The holy spirit wooed you, Rick. I didn't even I was just going to a concert. I wasn't looking for you. I wasn't seeking or searching for you, but I was you. I was seeking and searching for you, Rick. Why? Because of love. Because of an everlasting love. It's the goodness of God, the kindness of God that leads us to repentance. How are we to respond? We respond in faith. We respond in hope, confident expectation, and we respond in love. We reciprocate. We love God because he first loved us. He gives us the capacity to love. His love's put deep within our heart, and for many of us, we've grown cold in our love. We've grown indifferent to his love. We're lukewarm as the Laodicean church in the last days. We've taken things. We've taken we're rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing. I don't need Jesus as much as I used to. I got the blessed life. I got everything I wanted. And Jesus said, you've got a really strange assessment of yourself. You don't see that you're really in the spiritual realm. You're really naked, poor, blind, and miserable. You're lukewarm. Your love is insipid. It's not there. Without love, you're nothing. And church of Ephesus, you've left your first love. You just flat out left your first love. Church of Laodicea, you kicked me out. But hey, my love is eternal. I'm still knocking on the door of your heart. I'm wanting back in. I miss fellowship with you. Do you remember our honeymoon? Do you remember when you first came to know me? Do you remember how you couldn't put the book down? Do you remember how you wanted to go out and tell everybody about me? That zeal, that joy, that blessing of being in love with me and raptured with me? That's what I want. I want that love to be rekindled, stoked, aflame. Just spend time with me. Allow me to breathe. Allow me to blow and take that winnowing fork and blow that little light to a flame. A bruised reed, he will not break and smoking flax, he will not quench. He's gonna refill that lamp with oil. He's gonna refill your life and give you that urgency and that sense of his soon return. He's coming again. He's coming for you as bride. Don't be too comfortable in this world. This is temporary. I've gone to prepare a place for you. And if I've gone to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you onto myself that where I am, there you may be also. Pray always that you'd be able to escape these things and stand before the son of man. You don't wanna be here during the tribulation period. When you see these things begin to come to pass, look up knowing that your redemption draws nigh. His coming is at the door and he comes quickly. The tachometer is racing. It's it's faster. It's increasing. The events, the prophetic events are increasing. Jesus is coming again. We were so excited when we got saved and we learned about the rapture. We learned about his his soon return for us. We are so enraptured. We're so excited. What happened? So many people against the doctrine of the rapture. Where's their love? Jesus keeps knocking. He just keeps knocking. The greatest of these is love. I'm sorry. I'm sorry about that. Father, we thank you that you choose to use clay pots, Lord. Leaky pots. Lord, we thank you that you desire to fill us to overflowing to use our lives. Fill us with your love, Lord. We need more of you. That's all we need, Lord. All we're in need of is you. More love, more power. Lord, let us enter into all that you have for us today, this week. Lower devotion time and our time in the word to be fresh, to be like reading a love letter once again. The greatest of these is love. Lord, we pray that we'd love you with all of our hearts, all of our mind, all of our soul, all of our strength, and our neighbor as ourselves. Teach us to love, Lord. Equip us. Use us for your kingdom and for your glory, we ask. If there's anybody here this morning, you don't know Jesus in this way, you don't have a love relationship with him, There's a a danger in going through the motions, a danger in having a false sense of security and one day hearing him say away from me, I never knew you. You that practice iniquity. Paul said, let a man examine himself to see whether he's in the faith or not, lest you be a reprobate. Whole lot of people go to church. Whole lot of people posture themselves as Christians their whole life long. But they're missing one thing, the most important crucial thing and that is to be born again. You must be born again. How's a person born again? Your body and soul. How do you become body, soul, and spirit? It's when you come in surrender to Jesus, to him as savior and lord. You surrender unto him and you take that faith that he's given you, reveal in himself, and you cry out, God be merciful to me a sinner. Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. And as you're calling upon him, you're turning from your sins. You're turning to God depending depending upon him, relying upon his finished work upon the cross. Not being a good guy, he's the only one good, but by grace through faith, it's a free gift. By grace through faith alone, you're saved. And he comes into your heart and life. In first in John chapter one, as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God. He came unto his own and his own received him not. Many of the Jews didn't receive him. He said in John five another, he goes, I come in my father's name and you receive me not nation of Israel. Another shall come in his own name and him you will receive the antichrist. But for you and I individually, he's knocking on the door of your heart and the Holy Spirit's bearing witness of the sun, and the Holy Spirit's showing you right now the cross of Calvary, that all of your sins, past, present, future, were placed upon Jesus. And if you place your trust in him completely, his righteousness will be imputed to your account. All of your sins will be washed away. And there'll be a justification, just as if you've never sinned, a right standing with God purchased by the blood of Jesus, and only he gets the glory. So anyone here this morning, this is the kind of salvation you want. Just lift your hand up. We wanna pray with you. Anyone here this morning? Take the time. So father, we thank you once again for the so great a salvation that you've bestowed upon us, that you've gifted us with. Lord, that we're we're plutocrats. We're so wealthy. We're so rich in these last days. Thank you so much, Lord, that we're saved. And Lord, in our in our salvation, Lord, we desire to be used of you to be fruitful, to multiply. Give us divine appointments, open doors to share the glorious gospel with those this week that you put us in touch with. Let us share the love of Jesus with people who are perishing, people who are hurting, people who are indifferent and just clueless. Open their eyes, Lord. Let there be a great harvest of souls this week, Lord. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
