Genesis 1:1-12
Pastor Rick Beaudry opens with prayer and intercession before launching a study through Genesis 1:1-12, framing Genesis as the book of origins with Moses as compiler. He stresses that God is self existent and eternal, that bara denotes creation out of nothing, and that the Trinity is active in creation as God brings order from chaos. Beaudry argues for a gap or divine judgment interpretation of Genesis 1:2, attributing the chaotic state to Lucifer’s fall and supporting that view with Job, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Revelation. Walking through days one to four, he traces the creation of light, the firmament, dry land, vegetation and the sun, moon and stars, and applies these truths to the sanctity of life, stewardship of creation and God’s purposeful plan for us.
